Field Level Media

Former NFL linebacker and Southern California star Keith Browner Sr. died Tuesday, reportedly in San Leandro, Calif. He was 63.

Keith Browner Jr. told TMZ that his father was having stomach issues on Monday night and said he would visit the hospital Tuesday. But the younger Browner said his father collapsed while preparing to leave for the hospital and died.

A cause of death has not yet been divulged.

Keith Browner Sr. had six interceptions in three seasons at USC (1981-83) before being a second-round pick (No. 30 overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1984 NFL Draft.

He played three seasons with the Buccaneers before bouncing around to the San Francisco 49ers (1987), Los Angeles Raiders (1987) and San Diego Chargers (1988) over his final two seasons. Browner had 10.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and four interceptions in 65 games (44 starts). He returned an interception for a touchdown for the Chargers.

Browner was one of six football-playing boys in his family and four played in the NFL. The most famous one was Ross, a former Notre Dame All-American and Cincinnati Bengals star. Ross Browner was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999 and died in 2022 at age 67.

Joey Browner was a six-time Pro Bowl safety for the Minnesota Vikings while Jim Browner briefly was a defensive back for the Bengals.

Keith Browner Jr. played three games for the Houston Texans in 2014. He played college football at Cal.

Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 10

Player Notes
Theo Johnson Nov 5 8:40pm ET
Theo Johnson

New York Giants tight end Theo Johnson (shoulder) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. It sounds like he's managing a shoulder injury, so he'll get eased into the practice week. Last weekend, Johnson hauled in three of his six targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The 24-year-old has scored five touchdowns in his last six games. If he's unable to play, Daniel Bellinger could move into the starting tight end role for the Week 10 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Right now, it seems like Johnson is trending towards playing, but fantasy managers should check back for another update.

Dalton Schultz Nov 5 8:30pm ET
Dalton Schultz

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Unsurprisingly, Schultz is limited to start the week while he continues to deal with lingering injuries. He missed practice time last week as well, but still suited up for the Week 9 loss to the Denver Broncos. Schultz hauled in six of his eight targets for a season-high 77 yards in the defeat. If he's unable to play, Harrison Bryant would likely be asked to start, but he wouldn't be a recommended fantasy option for the Week 10 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

AJ Barner Nov 5 8:20pm ET
AJ Barner

Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner (calf) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Barner appeared to be fine while hauling in three receptions for 24 yards during last week's win over the Washington Commanders. The 23-year-old salvaged his fantasy value with a one-yard rushing touchdown. Despite being limited in the receiving game, Barner has been able to score four touchdowns in his last five games. If he misses time, Elijah Arroyo figures to have an expanded role and increased fantasy value for the Week 10 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Cooper Kupp Nov 5 8:10pm ET
Cooper Kupp

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring, heel) was unable to take part in Wednesday's practice session. Earlier in the day, head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters that Kupp would be limited in practice. Instead, Kupp sat out completely, which isn't a great sign to begin the week. The 32-year-old sat out of last week's win over the Washington Commanders. There's a chance he misses the Week 10 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals as well. The Seahawks have brought in reinforcements in the form of Rashid Shaheed. That being said, Shaheed could have a bigger role right away if Kupp is unable to play this weekend. Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned throughout the week for more updates on Kupp.

Taysom Hill Nov 5 7:03pm ET
Taysom Hill

New Orleans Saints OT Taliese Fuaga (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. RB Alvin Kamara (ankle) and TE Jack Stoll (ankle) were limited during practice. Dalton Schultz Nov 5 7:03pm ET
Dalton Schultz

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Schultz racked up six receptions for 77 yards on eight targets in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos, and he has five or more receptions in five of the past six games. He is a decent low-end TE1 or top TE2 in PPR fantasy leagues, with lesser appeal in standard play.

From TheHuddle

Keenan Allen Nov 5 7:03pm ET
Keenan Allen

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Allen should return to practice in the next day or two and will be available for the Week 10 game. He has been held to under 50 yards in three of his last four games but has been targeted at least five times in every game. He can be a No. 3 receiver or flex option in fantasy leagues.

Jourdan Lewis Nov 5 7:03pm ET
Jourdan Lewis

Jacksonville Jaguars OL Ezra Cleveland (knee, ankle), CB Jourdan Lewis (neck), TE Hunter Long (hip, knee) and WR Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5, while WR Dyami Brown (concussion), LB Dennis Gardeck (chest), DT DaVon Hamilton (back) and LB Jack Kiser (quadriceps) were limited, while LB Devin Lloyd (calf), TE Quintin Morris (groin) and WR Tim Patrick (groin) were full participants.

Keenan Allen Nov 5 7:03pm ET
Keenan Allen

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (non-injury), OT Bobby Hart (ankle, knee), LB Khalil Mack (non-injury) and CB Tarheeb Still (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. OG Mekhi Becton (knee), DE Da'Shawn Hand (groin) and S Tony Jefferson (hamstring) were limited during practice. LS Josh X. Harris (chest) and CB Deane Leonard (knee) fully participated in practice.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Scotty Miller (finger), CB Cory Trice (hamstring, knee), S Jabrill Peppers (quadriceps), LB Cole Holcomb (illness), LB Alex Highsmith (ankle), OG Isaac Seumalo (pectoral), TE Darnell Washington (foot) and TE Jonnu Smith (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. QB Will Howard (hand) and S Chuck Clark (illness) fully participated in practice.

From TheHuddle

Ka'imi Fairbairn Nov 5 6:53pm ET
Ka'imi Fairbairn

Houston Texans PK Ka'imi Fairbairn (quadriceps) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5 due to a right quadriceps injury. He is not expected to play in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with PK Matthew Wright expected to handle the placeckicking duties.

Fantasy Spin: Fairbairn is one of the better fantasy options among placekickers, so you'll need to make alternate plans if you normally depend upon him. Wright is not a recommended fill-in option, as there are probably plenty of other regulars available off of your waiver wire.

From TheHuddle

Alvin Kamara Nov 5 6:53pm ET
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Kamara only had 18 total yards in the last game on seven touches and has been held under 10 touches in each of the last two games. He can still be a flex option in fantasy leagues because he has shown he can be productive when he has the ball in his hands.

From TheHuddle

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Nov 5 6:50pm ET
Jacory Croskey-Merritt

Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (mouth) was wearing a non-contact jersey on Wednesday and was listed as a limited practice participant after having dental work done, according to John Keim of ESPN. Croskey-Merritt should be available to play on Sunday against the visiting Detroit Lions, but the better question is whether he'll lose any playing time to Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. after stumbling the last few weeks. The 24-year-old seventh-rounder has been the team's lead back since Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 2, but Bill hasn't scored since Oct. 5 and is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry for 157 yards on 51 rushing attempts in the last four games. Expect defenses to load the box more to stop the run against Washington now, with quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) out for the foreseeable future. JCM is trending down as an RB3/flex play heading into this weekend.

Ka'imi Fairbairn Nov 5 6:43pm ET
Ka'imi Fairbairn

Houston DE Denico Autry (knee), DE Will Anderson Jr. (quadriceps), TE Harrison Bryant (shoulder), RB Nick Chubb (foot), PK Ka'imi Fairbairn (quadriceps), LB Christian Harris (shin), OL Tytus Howard (concussion), OG Ed Ingram (knee), S Jalen Pitre (concussion) and QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. WR Braxton Berrios (chest) and TE Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) were limited, while DE Dylan Horton (knee) and FB Jakob Johnson (hamstring) were full participants.

From TheHuddle

Jonnu Smith Nov 5 6:43pm ET
Jonnu Smith

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jonnu Smith (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Smith continues to have a limited role in the passing game and has not posted more than 27 yards in any game in 2025. He will see a handful of targets in Week 10 but can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nick Chubb Nov 5 6:43pm ET
Nick Chubb

Houston Texans RB Nick Chubb (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5 due to his foot injury.

Fantasy Spin: Let's check back Thursday and Friday to see if Chubb will be able to suit up. He split backfield touches down the middle with Woody Marks last time out against the Denver Broncos. Chubb continues to see double-digit carries, going for 11 or more carries in four of the past five games. However, he has 3.3 yards per carry or fewer in the past three games, and he hasn't scored in a calendar month since Oct. 5. He is best used as a low-end RB3 or flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 10 in Jacksonville.

From TheHuddle

Nick Chubb Nov 5 6:30pm ET
Nick Chubb

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb (foot) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice due to a foot injury, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. The Texans have already ruled out quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) for their Week 10 game against the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and the veteran Chubb could also be in danger of sitting out this weekend unless he returns to practice on Thursday or Friday. If the 29-year-old is limited or out against the Jaguars, rookie Woody Marks would be in line for a bigger workload, while Dare Ogunbowale would likely be elevated to RB2 duties. Chubb has mostly been underwhelming in his first year with the Texans as their primary back, with Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) still out, as he's averaged 3.9 yards per carry for 355 rushing yards and only two rushing scores in eight games.

Bobby Wagner Nov 5 6:23pm ET
Bobby Wagner

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (elbow), TE Zach Ertz (rest), S Quan Martin (hamstring), WR Terry McLaurin (quadriceps), LB Von Miller (rest), S Tyler Owens (hamstring) and OT Laremy Tunsil (hamstring, rest) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 5. CB Trey Amos (hip), RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (tooth), DL Eddie Goldman (concussion), DT Jer'Zhan Newton (ankle) and TE Colson Yankoff (hamstring) were each limited, while LB Bobby Wagner (thumb) practiced in full.

From TheHuddle

D'Andre Swift Nov 5 6:20pm ET
D'Andre Swift

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift (groin), who was limited in practice on Wednesday, said he plans to play on Sunday in Week 10 versus the visiting New York Giants, according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. Swift missed the wild win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9 due to a chronic groin injury. In his absence, rookie Kyle Monangai impressed, taking 26 carries for 176 yards. Head coach Ben Johnson said the Bears were protecting Swift from himself by letting him rest a groin injury that he's been dealing with for the past month. Monangai was also limited in Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, while Roschon Johnson was limited in his return from a back injury. Swift's RB1 job in Chicago shouldn't be in jeopardy, but if he does return this weekend against New York, he could cede a few more backfield touches to Monangai.

From RotoBaller

Baker Mayfield Nov 5 6:13pm ET
Baker Mayfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield (knee, oblique) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Mayfield has not had all of his receivers available for most of the season but still ranks 11th in the NFL with 1,919 passing yards. He has cooled off recently with only one touchdown pass in his last two games. He will be facing a good New England Patriots defense this week but can still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.
