Andy Reid fourth coach to 300 wins, including playoffs

Sat Jan 18 9:19pm ET
Field Level Media

The Kansas City Chiefs made fresh history for their accomplished head coach Saturday in their 23-14 divisional-round victory over the visiting Houston Texans.

The Chiefs raised Reid's record in the playoffs to 27-16, putting him within four wins of the all-time leader, Bill Belichick (31 playoff wins). But when taken in concert with Reid's 273 regular season victories, Reid has 300 career wins.

Just four coaches in NFL history have reached the 300-win plateau. Former Miami Dolphins head man Don Shula remains the all-time leader with 347 wins, while Belichick (Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots), is in second place with 333. George Halas (Chicago Bears) sits in third with 324, with Reid (Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles) rounding out the top four.

Reid and the Chiefs, who will host the AFC Championship Game against either the Baltimore Ravens or Buffalo Bills next Sunday, are in pursuit of an NFL-record third straight Super Bowl championship.

Reid could conceivably tie or surpass Belichick in career playoff wins next season.

Player Notes
Jared Goff Jan 18 9:40pm ET
Jared Goff

According to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff (concussion) is being evaluated for a concussion. Goff took a hard hit after throwing an interception in the second quarter. Veteran Teddy Bridgewater has taken over starting duties for the time being. Before exiting, Goff went 8-for-11 with 120 yards, a score and an interception. Bridgewater will continue to stat while Goff is sidelined.

Zach Ertz Jan 18 9:20pm ET
Zach Ertz

According to the team, Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz (concussion) is questionable to return to Saturday's Divisional Round playoff game against the Detroit Lions. The veteran tight end sustained a hard hit in the second quarter and is being evaluated for a concussion. Before exiting, Ertz caught both of his targets for 13 yards. While sidelined, John Bates should have a starting role in the offense.

Amik Robertson Jan 18 9:10pm ET
Amik Robertson

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Detroit Lions defensive back Amik Robertson (elbow) has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's playoff game. Robertson sustained this injury on the opening defensive drive when tackling Terry McLaurin. Fantasy managers should expect Kindle Vildor to continue to have a key role in the secondary for the remainder of the game

Amik Robertson

According to Eric Woodyard of ESPN, Detroit Lions defensive back Amik Robertson (elbow) is questionable to return to Saturday's game against the Washington Commanders. Robertson sustained this injury on their first defensive drive of the game. He was attempting to make a tackle and needed assistance leaving the field. While sidelined, Kindle Vildor should see an increase in snaps.

Dalton Schultz Jan 18 8:10pm ET
Dalton Schultz

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz finished second on the team in receiving by catching all four of his targets for 63 yards in a Divisional Round defeat to Kansas City on Saturday. All told, it was the veteran tight end's second-best receiving day of the season, trailing only a 66-yard day against Detroit in November. About half Schultz's damage came on one play, a 34-yard juggling act along the sideline that was upheld after review. Though his receiving role initially took a hit, he ended up second on the team in targets and catches following injuries to receivers Stefon Diggs (knee) and Tank Dell (knee). Houston, which sees its season end in the Divisional Round for a second straight year, will likely be in the market for another pass catcher during the offseason.

Nico Collins Jan 18 8:00pm ET
Nico Collins

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins finished his team's Divisional Round playoff defeat at Kansas City with five catches on eight targets for 81 yards, a decent day considering Houston's considerable challenges in the passing game. The Texans surrendered eight sacks and only completed 19 passes as quarterback C.J. Stroud spent most of the afternoon under siege. The 25-year-old receiver further cemented his status as a No. 1 option in 2024, but by the end of the season, didn't have much support with compatriots Tank Dell (knee) and Stefon Diggs (knee) out for the year. He figures to be part of the long-term plan for Houston, which ends the season in the Divisional Round for the second straight year.

Joe Mixon Jan 18 7:50pm ET
Joe Mixon

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon was one of the few bright spots for his team in a season-ending defeat to Kansas City on Saturday, during which he compiled 100 yards from scrimmage and scored his team's only touchdown. The former Cincinnati Bengal rushed for a game-high 88 yards on 18 carries, and also hauled in two of his three targets for another 12 yards. Unfortunately for Houston, its pass protection and kicking game were major letdowns, as the line allowed eight sacks and kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn missed two field goals and an extra point. It was a largely productive first season in Houston for Mixon, who hit 1,000 yards rushing and scored 12 regular-season touchdowns, but Houston's season concludes in the Divisional Round for the second straight year.

Ka'imi Fairbairn Jan 18 7:40pm ET
Ka'imi Fairbairn

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn had a rough day in the team's 23-14 defeat in the Divisional Round at Kansas City, making only two of his four field-goal attempts and missing his only extra point. The veteran converted from 30 and 48 yards, but badly missed on a 55-yarder in the first half, pushed an extra point wide on Houston's lone touchdown, and had a low kick blocked in the Texans' last-ditch attempt to get back into the game. It would have taken a special effort for Houston to unseat the defending champs, but between Fairbairn's bad day and the offensive line surrendering eight sacks, the Texans weren't able to do enough as their year ends in the Divisional Round for the second straight season.

C.J. Stroud Jan 18 7:40pm ET
C.J. Stroud

Quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans spent most of the Divisional Round under pressure, completing 19 of 28 passing attempts for 245 yards with neither a touchdown or a turnover in his team's season-ending defeat at Kansas City on Saturday. The Chiefs were able to get the best of Houston's offensive line, sacking the sophomore quarterback eight times and impacting a number of other throws as Houston managed only one touchdown. Though he limped off late in the game, Stroud did re-enter for the final drive. It was a largely disappointing year fantasy-wise for last season's Rookie of the Year, but he has now led Houston to a division title and a Wild Card victory in both of his first two seasons. Houston's offense goes into the offseason with needs on the offensive line and for a No. 2 receiver, as Tank Dell (knee) could be unavailable through 2025 and Stefon Diggs is a free agent.

Teddy Bridgewater Jan 18 7:00pm ET
Teddy Bridgewater

Detroit Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will serve as the backup QB for Saturday's playoff game against the Washington Commanders. The Lions have opted to have an experienced quarterback behind Jared Goff which leaves Hendon Hooker as the emergency option. Bridgewater retired from the league after the 2023 season to coach his alma mater high school team. He came out of retirement in late December and served as the emergency third string quarterback to end the season. He's unlikely to see the field with Goff healthy, but having Bridgewater's experience on the sideline is never a bad thing.

Robert Saleh Jan 18 6:50pm ET
Robert Saleh

The Dallas Cowboys have completed an interview with Robert Saleh for their head coaching vacancy. Saleh was fired by the New York Jets after a 2-3 start to the year this season. He was entering his fourth year as the team's head coach and had two straight seven-win seasons. Despite his lack of success in New York, Saleh has been a popular name discussed for head coaching vacancies. The Cowboys are never an easy team to coach, but Saleh is used to having an eyes on him in New York. This probably won't be the last head coaching interview that Saleh gets this offseason.

Neville Hewitt Jan 18 5:40pm ET
Neville Hewitt

Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) has returned to Saturday's Divisional Round contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. Al-Shaair exited during the first half and was listed as questionable, but he only missed a few snaps before re-joining Houston's defense. He registered a tackle in the opening quarter and will look to make an even bigger impact over the final two-plus quarters. Al-Shaair's return will send depth linebacker Neville Hewitt back to the sideline for now.

Neville Hewitt

Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) exited during the first half of Saturday's Divisional Round contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. Al-Shaair registered a tackle in the opening quarter but was unable to add another stat before departing. The 27-year-old amassed six tackles last week, and he had two sacks throughout the regular season. Neville Hewitt should earn more defensive snaps at linebacker until Al-Shaair is able to return.

Caleb Williams Jan 18 4:40pm ET
Caleb Williams

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had a cyst removed from his right hand/wrist area, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Last year's No. 1 pick was seen in public wearing a cast, but Rapoport notes that Williams' operation was minor and he is okay. Presumably, he'll have a short recovery team and will be healthy for offseason workouts in a few months. Williams played all 17 games in his rookie campaign, completing 62.5 percent of his passes for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions. As he continues to develop and get more comfortable in the NFL, he should rank as a high-end QB2 with additional upside for the 2025 fantasy football season.

Jaylen Watson Jan 18 3:20pm ET
Jaylen Watson

According to the team, Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Jaylen Watson (leg) is active for Saturday's playoff game against the Houston Texans. Watson has been sidelined since suffering a fractured fibula during their Week 7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Watson was able to log three straight full practice sessions leading up to this game suggesting he will be a full go in this contest. During the first six games of the season, Watson tallied 29 tackles (19 solo) with ten assists and six deflections. Fantasy managers should expect Watson to have a key role in this contest as the Chiefs begin their playoff march.

Joe Mixon Jan 18 3:10pm ET
Joe Mixon

According to the team, Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) is officially active for Saturday's playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Mixon popped up on the injury report as a limited participant on Wednesday and was downgraded to a non-participant on Thursday. However, the top running back was able to turn the corner in time for Saturday's game. Last weekend, during their wild-card victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, Mixon ran for 106 yards and a score on 25 attempts. Through 14 regular season games, Mixon averaged a strong 17.1 PPR points per game and remains a top play in DFS competitions despite the tough matchup in Kansas City.

Azeez Al-Shaair Jan 18 3:10pm ET
Azeez Al-Shaair

According to the team, Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) is officially active for Saturday's tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs. Al-Shaair opened the week as a non-participant but was able to upgrade to limited participation on Thursday and Friday. The 27-year-old saw his typical workload last weekend during their victory over the Los Angeles Chargers and tallied six tackles and three assists. During 11 regular season games, Al-Shaair tallied 70 tackles (45 solo) with two sacks, two forced fumbles, and four pass deflections. Al-Shaair should be expected to have a key role in the defensive gameplan against the reigning champions.

Robert Woods Jan 18 3:10pm ET
Robert Woods

According to the team, Houston Texans wide receiver Robert Woods (hip) is officially active for Saturday's playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Woods was unable to practice all week due to a hip injury but was able to turn the corner in time to face the reigning champions. Last weekend, during their wild-card victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, Woods caught four of his two targets for 22 yards. Over his previous four contests, the veteran wideout has begun to find a role in the Houston passing attack with Tank Dell (knee) sidelined. During this stretch, he has seen 3.8 targets per game and has been deployed as the clear No.3 wideout on the depth chart. Woods is worth a look as a WR3 in DFS formats in this contest.

Tyler Bass Jan 18 2:50pm ET
Tyler Bass

Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass is a solid option in DFS competitions on Sunday evening when he faces the Baltimore Ravens. Last weekend, during their wild-card victory over the Denver Broncos, Bass went 3-for-3 on attempts and 2-for-2 on extra points. Over his previous five games, Bass has missed just one field goal attempt and has averaged a solid 8.2 fantasy points per game. During this stretch, he has been perfect on attempts from 40+ yards. On Sunday, he will face the Ravens who have allowed the 13th-fewest fantasy points to opposing kickers this season. Despite this, given Bass's recent stretch of performances, he is a top option in all DFS competitions on Sunday.

From RotoBaller

Justin Tucker Jan 18 2:40pm ET
Justin Tucker

Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker is a low-end play in DFS competitions in the divisional round when he faces the Buffalo Bills on Sunday evening. Last weekend, during their wild-card victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tucker went 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts. He did not attempt a field goal. Despite holding a shaky 70.4% FG conversion rate during the first 13 games of the regular season, the veteran kicker has begun to turn the corner as he has gone perfect on all attempts over his previous five contests. However, the Bills have done well limiting the opposing kickers to the fifth-fewest fantasy points this season. As a result, Tucker is a low-end play this weekend.
