Falcons release kicker Younghoe Koo, turn to Parker Romo

Fri Sep 19 7:25pm ET
Field Level Media

The Atlanta Falcons released veteran kicker Younghoe Koo on Friday, ending his seven-season tenure with the team after a sharp decline in accuracy and a costly miss in the season opener.

Koo, 31, was inactive for last week's 22-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings and did not travel with the team. In his place, Parker Romo went 5-for-5 on field goals, including a 54-yarder, and was signed to the 53-man roster on a two-year deal. Falcons coach Raheem Morris confirmed Romo will start Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

"I want to thank the Falcons organization for giving me an opportunity when no one else would six years ago," Koo posted on Instagram Friday. "This place helped me grow as a kicker and as a man. I will forever be grateful for the support from the fans during my time here. I have nothing but love and respect for everyone in the building. I wish y'all the best. I'm full of gratitude and excitement as I continue my journey in this league."

Koo converted 25 of 34 field-goal attempts last season, his 73.5 percent success rate the lowest of his career. His final attempt for the Falcons came in Week 1 of this season, a missed 44-yard try in the closing seconds of a 23-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The South Korean-born Koo joined Atlanta in 2019 and went on to become one of the NFL's most reliable kickers. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 after leading the league with 37 made field goals on 39 attempts and departs as the Falcons' third all-time leading scorer with 700 points, trailing only Matt Bryant and Morten Andersen.

Starts, Sits, Sleepers: Week 3

Player Notes
Jonnu Smith Sep 19 9:30pm ET
Jonnu Smith

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jonnu Smith has been inconsistent for fantasy purposes to start the season, but could be primed to deliver against the New England Patriots in Week 3. On paper, New England looks like a middle-of-the-pack matchup for fantasy tight ends, surrendering a big performance to Brock Bowers in Week 1 before facing the Miami Dolphins, who didn't target the position in Week 2. The Patriots have, however, allowed the most passing yards in the NFL. Despite modest yardage totals so far, Smith has operated as one of Pittsburgh's top pass-catchers behind DK Metcalf. Assuming this contest stays competitive throughout, the 30-year-old should see enough volume to provide a floor in PPR formats, but his ceiling remains capped. Fantasy managers can treat Smith as a TE2 that can be started in a pinch on Sunday.

Dare Ogunbowale Sep 19 9:20pm ET
Dare Ogunbowale

Houston Texans running back Dare Ogunbowale has played significant snaps in the first two weeks of the season, but the veteran could be in for a reduced workload as the team tries to find more dynamic playmakers to jumpstart the offense. He's expected to play a reduced role against the Jaguars in Week 3 as the Texans lean more on rookie Woody Marks instead of the veteran Obubowale. In Week 1, he played 27% of snaps, and in Week 2, he played 20% of snaps. After two carries and two catches in Week 1, he didn't have an offensive opportunity in Week 2. Marks made some big plays as well, showing the spark he brings to the offense. Ogunbowale is only the RB76 in the RotoBaller Week 3 rankings, so he's off the radar in all but the deepest of leagues this week.

Drake London Sep 19 9:20pm ET
Drake London

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London caught three of four targets for 49 yards in Week 2, a disappointing performance after drawing a whopping 15 targets and catching eight balls in Week 1 (albeit for only 55 yards). Michael Penix Jr. completed only 13 passes in Week 2 as the team relied on the ground attack, and with a player like Bijan Robinson, the team could go back to the run again in Week 3 against a poor Carolina run defense. However, working in the 24-year-old's favor is that the Panthers will be without Patrick Jones II (hamstring), who tallied seven sacks a year ago, which could give Penix more time to complete passes. Also, despite Carolina yielding the most rush yards per game in all of football last year, London still amassed 10 catches on 18 targets for 187 yards and two scores with Penix under center in the final week of the season against Carolina, so there is hope for the fourth-year wideout to put up some big numbers if the Panthers can somehow keep it close. The 6-foot-4 receiver is the unquestioned No. 1 in this receiving corps, and he checks in as a low-end WR1 this week.

Bucky Irving Sep 19 9:10pm ET
Bucky Irving

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving was all over the field during last week's game against the Houston Texans. Irving rushed 17 times for 71 yards while hauling in all six targets for an additional 50 yards through the air in the win. Through two games, Irving has looked solid in both the running and receiving game for Tampa Bay. However, the split in the backfield was a bit closer last week. Rachaad White saw 10 carries compared to the two touches he had in the season opener. However, Irving's usage in the passing game should keep his fantasy value in the RB1 range for the upcoming matchup against the New York Jets. The Bucs are limited on offensive weapons right now, so Irving should continue seeing a high usage.

From RotoBaller

Woody Marks Sep 19 9:10pm ET
Woody Marks

Houston Texans running back Woody Marks was more involved in Week 2, and he could play even more moving forward, according to reports from Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle. In Week 1, he played 11% of snaps, and in Week 2, he played 27% of snaps. He had three carries each week, but he was more effective with 14 rushing yards in Week 2 while also adding a 37-yard reception. Dare Ogunbowale has been mixing in as a receiving back along with Marks and Nick Chubb, but the fourth-round pick from USC is expected to play a larger role as he continues to flash more potential upside than Ogunbowale moving forward. Marks is the RB46 in RotoBaller's rankings for Week 3, so he's still not quite a flex play in standard leagues at this point.

Baker Mayfield Sep 19 9:00pm ET
Baker Mayfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (toe, foot) has been cleared to suit up for the Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets. The Bucs offensive line has been banged up, but that hasn't stopped Mayfield from making an impact on the field. So far this season, Mayfield has thrown for 382 yards with five touchdowns and zero interceptions in two games. He'll now head into a matchup against a Jets defense that had no answers for the Buffalo Bills last week. As already mentioned, the Bucs are banged up on the o-line, but also at wide receiver as well. This offense will be without Chris Godwin (ankle), Jalen McMillan (neck), and Emeka Egbuka (hip, groin) is questionable to play. That being said, Mayfield could see his value drop if Egbuka is unable to suit up. For now, fantasy managers should keep Mayfield in the QB1 mix for this game.

From RotoBaller

Nick Chubb Sep 19 9:00pm ET
Nick Chubb

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb continues to dominate the playing time and most of the workload in the backfield, and he'll be an RB3 or flex option this week as he visits Jacksonville for a divisional contest. Chubb had 12 carries for 43 yards and a 25-yard touchdown in the Texans' one-point loss on Monday, and he played 53% of the team's snaps. Before his touchdown, he had only 11 carries for 18 rushing yards, but that touchdown saved his fantasy day. He also caught both of his targets for 29 receiving yards. Chubb will continue to get plenty of work but will only be an RB3 in Week 3 against the Jaguars, who have been good against running backs in the early part of this season. Chubb is the No. 26 RB this week, making him a solid flex play in most formats, although he will remain very touchdown-reliant since the Texans' offensive line isn't opening up much space.

Calvin Austin III Sep 19 9:00pm ET
Calvin Austin III

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III has had a turbulent start to the season but will hope to take advantage of a soft matchup against the New England Patriots in Week 3. New England has struggled to contain opposing wideouts, allowing the second-most fantasy points to the position through two games. While star Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) has a chance to return to the lineup on Sunday, he is likely to focus his attention on DK Metcalf. This could leave Austin open for targets from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with whom he flashed chemistry back in Week 1. The 26-year-old hasn't earned weekly fantasy consideration just yet, but he has some sneaky flex appeal in deeper formats this week.

From RotoBaller

D.K. Metcalf Sep 19 8:50pm ET
D.K. Metcalf

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf salvaged his Week 2 fantasy output with a touchdown and will look for more opportunities against the New England Patriots in Week 3. The Patriots, who have been without All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) so far this season, have surrendered the second-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts. Gonzalez returned to limited practice this week and is officially questionable to suit up on Sunday. Metcalf remains a viable fantasy option regardless, but his ceiling rises significantly if Gonzalez is ruled out. WR1s have logged at least six catches for 97 yards against New England in back-to-back weeks. In what projects to be a competitive contest, Pittsburgh may lean heavily on quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his top target. Fire up Metcalf as a solid fantasy WR2 with upside this week.

From RotoBaller

Bijan Robinson Sep 19 8:40pm ET
Bijan Robinson

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson rushed for 143 yards on 22 carries in last week's 22-6 victory over the Vikings, adding three catches on five targets for 25 yards as well. That gives him a 100-yard receiving game and a 100-yard rushing game through the first two weeks, proving he's an every-week, matchup-proof fantasy stud. The University of Texas product has scored just once so far, which surprisingly came through the air, but after scoring 14 rush TDs last season, he's bound to start racking up the scores. That time may very well come on Sunday against the Panthers, a game in which the Falcons are five-point favorites and should rely heavily on their ground attack, although the 23-year-old will be involved even if they go to the air. The Panthers were gashed for a league-worst 180 rush yards per game last season, and although they held the Arizona back's in check in Week 2, a pedestrian Travis Etienne Jr. carved them up for 143 yards in Week 1. Robinson is an obvious RB1 in Week 3, who could easily end up as the highest fantasy points-scorer amongst all running backs in this mouthwatering matchup, so deploy with confidence.

C.J. Stroud Sep 19 8:40pm ET
C.J. Stroud

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud will look to get his team their first win of the season in Week 3 as they visit the Jaguars on Sunday afternoon. Last Monday, Stroud completed 13-of-24 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' one-point loss to the Bucs. Stroud's touchdown pass came to Nico Collins on the first drive of the game, but the team struggled to move the ball after that. Stroud's main challenges have been the lack of protection from the patchwork offensive line and a lack of depth at wide receiver behind Collins. Maybe with Christian Kirk (hamstring) back in the rotation, Stroud can get rolling against the Jags, who rank in the middle of the pack against quarterbacks so far this season. RotoBaller has Stroud as the QB22 in this matchup due to his offense's struggles, which limits him to a low-end QB2 option in two-QB leagues.

David Njoku Sep 19 8:30pm ET
David Njoku

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is off to a slow start in 2025. The veteran tight end has caught just seven passes for 77 scoreless yards through two games while at the same time getting overshadowed by rookie Harold Fannin Jr., who has 12 grabs for 111 yards. Njoku will try to turn things around at home against a hot Green Bay Packers team in Week 3. The Packers might help him get going as they have been generous to opposing tight ends through two games, allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the position. That being said, the combination of an ineffective Cleveland offense and Fannin siphoning tight-end looks away from Njoku leaves him as a mid-range TE2 in fantasy this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Harold Fannin Jr. Sep 19 8:30pm ET
Harold Fannin Jr.

Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has been one of the team's few bright spots on offense through two games this season. The rookie has caught 12 passes for 111 yards thus far, outproducing veteran tight end David Njoku, who has just seven grabs for 77 scoreless yards. Fannin has a chance to stay hot at home against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 as Green Bay is allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends through two games this year. Fannin still has to share tight-end looks with Njoku, which caps his upside, but he still checks in as a high-end TE2 for fantasy this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Cedric Tillman Sep 19 8:20pm ET
Cedric Tillman

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman is off to a strong start in 2025, having caught seven passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns in two games. He will look to snag a TD pass in a third straight game at home against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. Tillman might have a slow afternoon, however, against a Green Bay defense that is allowing just the 21st-most fantasy points per game to wideouts. The veteran checks in as a mid-range WR5 heading into Week 3, as he could struggle against a red-hot Packers squad.

From RotoBaller

Aaron Rodgers Sep 19 8:10pm ET
Aaron Rodgers

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers came back to Earth in Week 2 after a dazzling season opener and will look to get back on track against the New England Patriots in Week 3. On paper, this is a favorable matchup as the Patriots surrendered the most passing yards in the NFL through the first two weeks. New England has been without star cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hamstring), who returned to practice in a limited capacity this week and could impact the fantasy outlook of Rodgers and his pass-catchers if active. Regardless, Rodgers is still working to get Pittsburgh's offense in rhythm and remains off the fantasy radar in single-QB formats. He projects to be a middling option in superflex leagues with some upside as a QB2, especially if Gonzalez misses a third straight game.

From RotoBaller

Jerry Jeudy Sep 19 8:10pm ET
Jerry Jeudy

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is off to a slow start in 2025, hauling in just nine passes for 117 scoreless yards through two games. He will look to get going at home in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers. However, Green Bay represents a tough matchup for Jeudy, as they are allowing just the 21st-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this season. The Cleveland offense hasn't done enough to earn the trust of fantasy managers this season and is unlikely to change that in a challenging matchup against a red-hot Packers squad. Jeudy checks in as a WR5/low-end flex option in fantasy heading into Week 3.

From RotoBaller

Carson Wentz Sep 19 8:00pm ET
Carson Wentz

Despite a chance to start for at least the next couple weeks, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz should remain off the fantasy radar in Week 3 against Cincinnati. The veteran is filling in for starter J.J. McCarthy and certainly has the experience to handle the offense, but the bigger concern is an offensive line that currently leads the NFL in sack percentage and could be in dire straits come Sunday. If starter Christian Darrisaw (knee) is not ready to return from his ACL rehab against the Bengals, the Vikings' projected left tackle, left guard, and center will go into the game with a combined two NFL starts. In what is already expected to be a low-scoring game, starting Wentz is an unnecessary risk, even in Superflex leagues.

Dylan Sampson Sep 19 8:00pm ET
Dylan Sampson

Cleveland Browns running back Dylan Sampson is off to a fast start in the passing game in his rookie season, having caught 11 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown through two games. He will hope to keep it going at home against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. Sampson's role in the backfield is likely to be scaled back, however, as fellow rookie Quinshon Judkins is expected to take over as the team's lead back this weekend. That being said, Sampson should continue to see a decent workload in the passing game, giving him value as a low-end RB3 in PPR formats this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Kalel Mullings Sep 19 7:50pm ET
Kalel Mullings

Tennessee Titans rookie running back Kalel Mullings (ankle) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable to play in a Week 3 divisional tilt against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Mullings injured his ankle on special teams in the Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos and was inactive in the Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 22-year-old has a shot to return this weekend, but if he does, he'll probably have a minimal role on offense and mainly be used on special teams in a return role. In his NFL debut in Week 1, Mullings didn't see a single touch on offense as the RB3 behind starter Tony Pollard and backup Julius Chestnut. When Tyjae Spears (ankle) returns from Injured Reserve (possibly in Week 5), Mullings will be pushed even further down the RB depth chart in Tennessee. He's only a dynasty/keeper stash for now.

From RotoBaller

Adam Thielen Sep 19 7:50pm ET
Adam Thielen

Coming off two poor offensive weeks, things look even worse for the Minnesota Vikings and wide receiver Adam Thielen in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. While the Bengals' secondary is normally a green-light matchup for receivers, the surrounding circumstances for the Vikings are not good. If starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw (knee), who is questionable on the injury report, is not ready to return from ACL rehab, the Vikings will be down to a third-string left tackle in addition to a backup quarterback and a first-time starter at center. For a team already allowing an NFL worst 18% sack rate, there is no reason to put any faith in a second-rate passing game if a manager has any other options.
