Falcons release kicker Younghoe Koo, turn to Parker Romo

Fri Sep 19 7:25pm ET
Field Level Media

The Atlanta Falcons released veteran kicker Younghoe Koo on Friday, ending his seven-season tenure with the team after a sharp decline in accuracy and a costly miss in the season opener.

Koo, 31, was inactive for last week's 22-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings and did not travel with the team. In his place, Parker Romo went 5-for-5 on field goals, including a 54-yarder, and was signed to the 53-man roster on a two-year deal. Falcons coach Raheem Morris confirmed Romo will start Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

"I want to thank the Falcons organization for giving me an opportunity when no one else would six years ago," Koo posted on Instagram Friday. "This place helped me grow as a kicker and as a man. I will forever be grateful for the support from the fans during my time here. I have nothing but love and respect for everyone in the building. I wish y'all the best. I'm full of gratitude and excitement as I continue my journey in this league."

Koo converted 25 of 34 field-goal attempts last season, his 73.5 percent success rate the lowest of his career. His final attempt for the Falcons came in Week 1 of this season, a missed 44-yard try in the closing seconds of a 23-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The South Korean-born Koo joined Atlanta in 2019 and went on to become one of the NFL's most reliable kickers. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 after leading the league with 37 made field goals on 39 attempts and departs as the Falcons' third all-time leading scorer with 700 points, trailing only Matt Bryant and Morten Andersen.

Starts, Sits, Sleepers: Week 3

Player Notes
RJ Harvey Sep 19 10:40pm ET
RJ Harvey

Denver Broncos running back RJ Harvey hasn't looked the best this season. He began his career by rushing for 70 yards off six attempts in the win over the Titans. The rookie followed up that showing by amassing eight yards off five carries in the Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. With a loss in the books, Denver will look to pick up a win over the Chargers in Week 3. The Los Angeles defense has played well in the team's first two contests. However, outside of the challenging matchup on the horizon, Harvey is still a work in progress and currently sits behind J.K. Dobbins, who has two touchdowns this season, on the depth chart. All that considered, Harvey isn't the safest fantasy option in any format, so it may be wise for managers to keep him stashed on the bench on Sunday.

Chase McLaughlin Sep 19 10:40pm ET
Chase McLaughlin

Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin has struggled early in the season. McLaughlin missed two kicks in the season opener and his issues lingered into Week 2. McLaughlin made both his extra point attempts, but missed his lone field goal attempt in the win over the Houston Texans. It has been a frustrating start for McLaughlin who was fantastic for Tampa Bay last season. The Bucs are expected to have a much longer leash on McLaughlin than fantasy managers should. McLaughlin comes into a favorable matchup against a shaky New York Jets defense. The expectation is that the Bucs should be able to set up McLaughlin with plenty of opportunities. No one should blame fantasy managers for moving on from McLaughlin, but maybe he deserves one more chance.

Darius Cooper Sep 19 10:40pm ET
Darius Cooper

Eagles rookie wideout Darius Cooper failed to achieve any targets once again in Philadelphia's Week 2 game against the Chiefs. However, Cooper did manage to see an increase in snaps, appearing in 12 offensive plays against Kansas City compared to the two he played versus the Cowboys. That could also be chalked up to the absence of starting tight end Dallas Goedert. Until he begins seeing any sort of consistent playing time, Cooper continues to be unreliable in fantasy.

From RotoBaller

Dalton Schultz Sep 19 10:40pm ET
Dalton Schultz

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz continued to be involved in Week 2 against the Buccaneers with Cade Stover on injured reserve, but he isn't a great play in Week 3 against the Jaguars. The veteran tight end's snap share increased from 54% to 59% but his targets dropped from five to four. He had three catches for 29 yards against the Bucs, ranking second on the team with four targets. The Texans' offense has been mostly ineffective this season, but Schultz is getting enough targets to be a touchdown-dependent flier if you're out of other options. He's only the TE29 in RotoBaller's rankings for this week, so he's only a TE2 in extremely deep leagues this week against the Jaguars, who have allowed a combined 10 catches for 82 yards to the position in the first two weeks.

From RotoBaller

Dallas Goedert Sep 19 10:40pm ET
Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert was not listed on Friday's injury report and appears to be fully ready for Sunday's contest against the Los Angeles Rams. This will be Goedert's first action since Week 1 after being sidelined for a game with a knee injury. In his one appearance, he led Philly in targets and receptions (seven each), racking up 44 yards in a win. The Rams are a middle-of-the-pack matchup, allowing the 17th-most points per game to opposing tight ends in fantasy through the first two games of the season. Goedert should slide cleanly right back into the offense; consider him a low-end TE1 for Week 3.

From RotoBaller

Zay Jones Sep 19 10:30pm ET
Zay Jones

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Zay Jones is so far off the fantasy radar that he's invisible. The veteran pass-catcher has only received one target in two games and caught it for four yards. He was even out on the field for 51% of the snaps against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2, but didn't receive a single target. At this rate, the only way he would be in a fantasy lineup is if the league gives points for the number of yards run on routes without getting the ball. Managers can leave him on the waiver wire until some sort of big shakeup happens to the Cardinals' lineup.

From RotoBaller

Cade Otton Sep 19 10:30pm ET
Cade Otton

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton hasn't put together an ideal start to the season. Luckily, last week Otton was at least able to contribute after a dud in the season opener. Otton hauled in three of his four targets for 25 yards in the win over the Houston Texans. The hope is that Otton will see his role in the receiving game increase as the season goes on. The Bucs are shorthanded at wide receiver with Chris Godwin (ankle) and Jalen McMillan (neck) out. Also, rookie Emeka Egbuka (hip, groin) is listed as questionable for the Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets. That being said, Otton figures to see a larger role because the Bucs don't have many weapons on offense. However, Otton hasn't given fantasy managers much reason to trust him. He should be considered a low-end streaming option until he proves otherwise.

From RotoBaller

Jayden Higgins Sep 19 10:30pm ET
Jayden Higgins

Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins has not made much of a splash in the NFL yet, and he may find playing time even harder to come by with Christian Kirk (hamstring) available in Week 3. Higgins had a 28-yard catch in Week 2 on his only target in Week 2, after catching two passes for 32 yards in his debut Week 1 against the Rams. Higgins was the team's second-round pick in last year's NFL Draft, and he's shown inconsistent flashes of potential. Higgins played 43% of snaps in each of the first two weeks of the season, behind Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, and even Justin Watson. With Kirk in the mix as well, Higgins is even further from making an impact, and he's only the WR71 in RotoBaller's Week 3 rankings. He's still holdable in standard leagues if you believe in his long-term upside, but he isn't playable at this point until his role is consistently larger.

From RotoBaller

DeVonta Smith Sep 19 10:30pm ET
DeVonta Smith

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith is coming off of a slightly underwhelming fantasy performance against the Chiefs. While he did lead his team in receiving yards, that meant mustering just 53 on four catches. Philly's passing game has had a slow start to the season, sitting towards the bottom of the league with the second-lowest yards per game through the air (119). In Week 3 Smith lines up against the Rams, who have allowed the eighth-least points per game to wide receivers in fantasy. Plus, he's still competing with some of Jalen Hurts' favorite targets like A.J. Brown, Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley. Smith has to earn some more trust among fantasy managers, and for now he should be looked at as a WR3.

From RotoBaller

Kareem Hunt Sep 19 10:30pm ET
Kareem Hunt

Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is in a nearly 50/50 split backfield with Isiah Pacheco heading into Week 3. Pacheco is pacing the backfield in carries, but the duo is tied with 47 rushing yards on the season. Hunt and Pacheco have been so inefficient that Patrick Mahomes is actually the team's leading rusher through the first two weeks. Despite his struggles, Hunt has been the preferred back on passing downs and short-yardage situations. If he can hang onto this role in the offense and improve his efficiency, Hunt could be the most fantasy-relevant player in this backfield. The 30-year-old will have the opportunity to turn it around in a juicy matchup against the New York Giants. The Giants ceded 82 rushing yards and a touchdown to Bill Croskey-Merritt in Week 1 then 97 yards and a touchdown to Javonte Williams in Week 2. Given his short-yardage role, Hunt could find himself in the endzone this weekend against this porous Giants defense. Hunt will have to prove his worth soon with rookie Brashard Smith waiting in the wings, but he should have a chance to hang onto the role for at least another week. Hunt is ranked RB41 in our Roto Baller Half-PPR rankings this week, making him a deeper league flex option.

From RotoBaller

Trey McBride Sep 19 10:30pm ET
Trey McBride

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is currently sitting at the TE6 in both half and full-PPR formats through two weeks. The passing game in general hasn't looked too great, so McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr. are still getting up to speed. McBride also hasn't found the end zone yet, just like the start of last season. He'll go up against a San Francisco 49ers squad in Week 3 that currently ranks sixth against the pass. Last year, however, he totalled 20 targets, 13 receptions, 118 yards, and one touchdown in the two games against the 49ers. He'll remain a must-start as long as he's healthy, but if Kyler Murray could be more consistent, it will pay dividends for managers with McBride.

From RotoBaller

Deebo Samuel Sep 19 10:30pm ET
Deebo Samuel

Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. projects favorably again in Week 3 against the Raiders. Samuel's usage has been very encouraging for fantasy managers, with plenty of underneath targets and screens in addition to him showing the ability to win downfield. Winning on some intermediate crossing routes like he has so far through two weeks is a positive signal that he is in a good place health-wise and is moving well. His elite YAC ability, combined with those downfield targets mixed in, is what made him a fantasy beast with Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco, and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury seemingly has a good grasp of how to optimize his skillset. Samuel will look to be a friendly target for veteran Marcus Mariota as he starts for an injured Jayden Daniels. Mariota played well in limited action last season and should be able to operate the offense well enough to keep the Washington offense productive for fantasy purposes. Samuel should be started with confidence as a WR2 in Week 3.

From RotoBaller

Marvin Harrison Jr. Sep 19 10:20pm ET
Marvin Harrison Jr.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has had plenty of ups and downs throughout his short NFL career so far. It definitely didn't give any fantasy managers a warm and fuzzy feeling when Kyler Murray shrugged off a question about getting Harrison more targets by saying, "Some days he's gonna get 10, and some days he might get 3." In Week 3, the duo goes up against a better defense than they've played so far in the San Francisco 49ers. If the reports from the offseason are true about these two building more chemistry, it would be great to see it come to fruition. In the meantime, Harrison hovers around a mid-to-low-end WR2 until proven otherwise.

From RotoBaller

Bo Nix Sep 19 10:20pm ET
Bo Nix

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has had a mediocre 2025 campaign thus far. He began the season by throwing for 176 yards, one touchdown, and two picks off 25-for-40 passing in the win over the Titans in Week 1. The signal-caller followed up that performance by tossing 206 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the loss to the Indianapolis Colts. With the Broncos sitting at 1-1, the team will look to get back in the win column versus the Chargers. Los Angeles enters Week 3 without a loss. The Chargers limited Patrick Mahomes to only one touchdown toss in Brazil before forcing Geno Smith to throw three interceptions on Monday night. With an efficient Chargers defense on tap, fantasy managers may want to consider keeping Nix out of the lineup on Sunday, at least for those participating in single-QB leagues. On the other hand, the 25-year-old can be viewed as a starting fantasy option in SuperFlex formats, especially with so many injuries around the league at the quarterback position heading into Week 3.

From RotoBaller

Michael Wilson Sep 19 10:20pm ET
Michael Wilson

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson has now registered finishes of WR105 and WR60 in PPR formats through two weeks. He even scored a touchdown in Week 2, but that was his only catch for 11 yards. He's now amassed six targets, two receptions, and 16 yards against two of the weaker defenses in the league. He's set to go against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 while on the road, so fantasy managers looking for a wide receiver option should probably look elsewhere. In RotoBaller's Week 3 rankings, Wilson currently projects as the WR80.

From RotoBaller

J.K. Dobbins Sep 19 10:20pm ET
J.K. Dobbins

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins played well in the first two contests of the 2025 campaign. He's totaled 139 yards on the ground off 30 attempts. While his 4.6 yards per carry isn't the best, he at least made up for it by finding the end zone twice. With RJ Harvey in the mix, many felt Dobbins wouldn't be as involved. That could eventually be the case as the season progresses. However, as of now, Dobbins appears to have the edge, with the 26-year-old logging 66 offensive snaps compared to the rookie's 41. With the Broncos coming off a loss to the Colts in Week 2, the team will look to get it together versus the Chargers. Los Angeles is sitting at a perfect 2-0 record, having secured wins over the Chiefs and Raiders. The Chargers offense has been clicking. On the other hand, the defense may be the biggest reason why the club remains unbeaten. Still, despite the tough matchup on the horizon, Dobbins has played well enough to earn a spot in any fantasy lineup, although his ceiling may be lower than in previous weeks.

From RotoBaller

Sterling Shepard Sep 19 10:20pm ET
Sterling Shepard

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Sterling Shepard did a nice job during last week's win over the Houston Texans. Shepard hauled in all four of his targets for 34 yards in the victory. Through two games, Shepard has hauled in seven of his 10 targets for 73 yards and he has been held without a touchdown. He's currently the third wideout on this roster, but might see a bump in value. Currently, Emeka Egbuka (hip, groin) is listed as questionable for Week 3. That means, Shepard might move into the No. 2 wideout role for their matchup against the New York Jets. If that happens, Shepard should see a higher volume of targets with the Bucs limited on receiving options. The 32-year-old clearly has chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield. Shepard isn't going to put up superstar numbers, but could be a low-end flex option if Egbuka sits out.

From RotoBaller

Rachaad White Sep 19 10:10pm ET
Rachaad White

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White was surprisingly solid during last week's win over the Houston Texans. White only saw two rushing attempts and one reception in the season opener, but came to play in Week 2. He rushed 10 times for 65 yards with a touchdown on the ground. White also hauled in both his targets for one additional yard through the air in the win. The 26-year-old remains the backup to Bucky Irving, which is going to limit his upside. However, the Bucs are banged up with Chris Godwin (ankle), Jalen McMillan (neck) both out. Also, Emeka Egbuka (groin) listed as questionable for Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets. That being said, the Bucs might need White to play a bigger role on offense this week. There's certainly some risk to starting White, but when active he has decent PPR upside.

From RotoBaller

Trey Benson Sep 19 10:10pm ET
Trey Benson

Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson continues to see more opportunities so far this season, but his fantasy relevance hasn't hit a startable point just yet. In Week 1, he saw 33% of the offensive snaps and then received 44% in Week 2. He finished right around the middle of RB3 territory in PPR formats for both weeks, so his production hasn't warranted being in fantasy lineups yet. Despite getting only three carries against the Carolina Panthers, he also saw six targets for a 24% target share. His playing trend is one to watch as the season goes on, but he's better left on the bench going up against the San Francisco 49ers' defense while on the road.

From RotoBaller

Terry McLaurin Sep 19 10:10pm ET
Terry McLaurin

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin will be without his star quarterback Jayden Daniels as they take on the Raiders at home in Week 3. McLaurin has had a slow start to the season after his holdout during training camp, with even reception on 13 targets for 75 yards in the two games. However, that is still more than what McLaurin had after the first two games of his career-best 2024 season, when he had only eight catches for 39 yards. The situation is obviously different this season now with Marcus Mariota set to start in Week 3, but McLaurin was very productive in a limited sample with Mariota last season. In nearly a full game together against Carolina, McLaurin led the team in receiving, catching all six of his targets for 98 yards. Then, when Mariota entered for the second half of Week 18 against the Cowboys, Mariota peppered McLaurin with easily a team-high eight targets in that small time for seven catches, 57 yards, and a game-winning touchdown. With the need to get McLaurin going and in rhythm early, combined with Mariota's trust in him, it could be a good bounce-back spot for the Washington receiver. He should be confidently started as a WR2 this week against Las Vegas.
