Last Revision August 2023
Charter:
The Monkeybiz league was initially established as a test league for the RealTime Fantasy Sports (RTFS) Company and it is to be a fun and enjoyable experience for its participants. Bylaws are established by league vote. All votes are to be determined by a simple majority. The League Owners determined the Commissioner via an initial vote. The commissioner shall continue in perpetuity or until the commissioner chooses to relinquish his duties. The League fees are assessed to provide incentive for full participation and “award money” is distributed in totality based on achievement through league play as defined in the league bylaws herein.
Commissioners Duties: The commissioner shall strive to interpret all rules and bylaws for their intent and shall seek advice from other owners as needed. He/She shall call and monitor all votes to change bylaws; determine a draft date in early July that accommodates as many owners as possible. Settle disputes between owners; be the final arbitrator in any rules disputes or owner complaints or appeals. The Commissioner shall strive to maintain fairness for all participants.
Number of Teams: The League shall be based on a twelve-team league – Depending on Owner participation the league may have less teams.
Draft: There shall be a draft no later than two weekends before the first official NFL weekend and shall be as close to the last weekend before the start of the season as possible.
Keepers: Each team may keep two players who play at different positions (Note TE & WR are the same position through 2018 – Receiver. After 2018, TE and WR will be two different positions. In 2019, a Flex position will also be added to the roster. Teams will not be able declare a flex position player for purposes of using them as a keeper, i.e. Teams will not be able to keep two WR, RB, or TE) each year. Teams must declare their keepers one week prior to the draft or the commissioner will choose their players. Owners choose their keepers by dropping the remaining players on their roster. Draft picks are given up for each keeper based on that player's draft position the previous year. If a player was not drafted/keeped in the previous draft, the keeper's draft position lost will be the last draft round of the next draft. (Note if a player is dropped from a team and later picked up by another owner and the new owner uses this player for a keeper, they must give up a draft pick based on when that player's draft position). Starting in 2023, keepers will progressively cost their teams three rounds earlier draft pick each successive year and once a keeper pick drops below the first round that draft pick must be given up. (Any trade of a keeper in the off season that would drop below the first round will not be allowed). New owners will get previous owners’ teams. If owner keeps a player and no longer has that draft pick, the next draft pick will be skipped (also applies if owner keeps two players in same round). If owner has two draft picks in a round (acquired via trade) and must give up one, then he/she would give up the non-acquired draft pick. If owner only has one draft pick from a trade in a round and must give up a draft pick because of a keeper selected, then that draft pick must be given up during that round. If owner keeps an undrafted free agent, then he/she will give up the last draft pick. If owner keeps two undrafted free agents, then he will give up the last two picks in the his/her draft. Undrafted free agents are defined as players who are not keepers and who were not drafted during that year’s draft.
Draft order: Shall be determined by end of year standings, with worst to first throughout the playoffs, i.e. Superbowl winner last, Superbowl loser next to last and playoff losers next based on seeding, the worst record not in the playoffs would be first. Try breakers for teams not in the Super Bowl playoffs shall be applied based on regular season records. The Draft shall be an S style draft. Draft Picks may be traded throughout the year. There will be 14 rounds during the draft through 2018. Starting in 2019 there will be 16 rounds to accommodate the mandatory TE and Flex positions being added to the starting lineups. Owners do not have to use all of their draft picks. If a team’s roster is not filled at the end of the draft, free transactions will be awarded to allow for additional players to be picked up off waivers to fill the team’s roster. A first come first serve transaction period will be established after the draft to allow for additional players to be picked up prior to the start of the NFL season.
Divisions: There shall be three Divisions with 4 teams per Division. Teams in the division shall be determined based on original draft order (i.e. draft picks 1,2,3 shall be in different divisions and teams 1,4,7,10 shall be in the same division).
Playoffs: There shall be a playoff and it will begin on the 14th week of the NFL season. Playoff seeding is based on team records. The teams wining each division shall be seeded 1,2, & 3. If teams have identical records total points shall be used as the tiebreaker. If still tied a coin flip will be used. There shall be two playoff brackets a Superbowl Bracket and a Toilet Bowl Bracket. There will be 6 teams initially in the Superbowl bracket with the top teams having a bye. The toilet bowl will initially have 4 teams. The two losers in the Superbowl bracket will move to the toilet bowl bracket and play the two winners. Each round of the playoffs will match the highest seed against the lowest seed. In the case of a game ending in a tie, the playoff tie breaker shall be based on the playoff seeding.
Free-for-All Week: NFL Week 17 shall be a week all teams play with the team having the highest scoring team for the week shall be declared the free-for-all winner.
Fees: There shall be an initial $35 participation fee assessed. This includes $30 for the Monkeybiz league and $5 for the Monkeybiz playoff league, plus $10 for the survivor pool. (See separate bylaws and rules).
Transactions: There shall be a $1 transaction fee assessed for each player acquired via waiver wire, free-for-all transactions and trades. In addition, there is a $1 fee assessed for each player traded away. Trades shall be restricted to preseason and regular season only – there will be no trades after week 8 through the Free-for -All.

All scoring shall be per RTFS and the entire Monkeybiz league shall abide by all RTFS rulings for official scoring. If RTFS Software fails the commissioner shall redo scoring based on memory and a solicit information from owners to accuracy of rules. Any disputed rules shall be resolved via owner vote.
