The Gang Was Almost All There This Last Weekend!

It's been many years since we have had a turnout like we did last Sunday!  It was the first time we had several out of towners make the journey, including Kelly from Arizona, Les from Boise, Mathew from Lewiston and the Jrod from Kalispell. In total we had 13 of the 18 league members in attendance and it was followed by 11 people staying for some golf fun too.  Even Mark Doucet, former league member made an apperance and shot some golf.  Sadly we still had locals, Travis, Aaron and Jimmie all skip out yet again several drafts now even though they are locals. Which means they really suck!  But, for everyone else it was a fun time.  Your Commish hasn't laughed that hard in a long time, and makes events like this and working on your newsletters each year very much worthwhile for an afternoon of fun. Even Brittany showed!!  Les and Dane were in rare form, after some scooners got them off and running at the Ground Round before the draft.   Many times, Les "The Beast" boasted of how this was his year and even guaranteed some victory this year, which is classic BEAST!  Even after mass consumption, Janke was unable to land a trade with the inebriated BEAST. Dane entertained by going into lengthy explanations on each of his draft picks and why they shall comet to bear fruit this fantasy season.  There was the message also preached by our 4-time champion about the idiocy of taking more than 1 quarterback, only to take a second quarterback two rounds later. Two or three rounds into the draft, Brittany, dressed in a all cat dress, surprised the stunned crowd as many didn't even know who she was even though she had been in the league for several years.  And Robby Rivera, who was out of town on a camping trip, surprised us all showing up after a round or two as well!  Robby, stressed even yelled at the bar gal, i think calling her a whore, but that was just unfortunate timing as he was addressing the crowd after taking 3 minutes to make his 11th round selection.  Of course our favorites, Norm Bud was there and complaining of the slowness of the draft, this year the complaint came in the second round. New guy Mathew Shears was able to withstand some barrage of new guy hazing.  And was even able to fire back some shots at the drunken slobbery BEAST who was the instigator this year of the tomfoolery for most of the afternoon.  Jrod had his usual Jrod wit that has been missed from the last few drafts.  And Tori, Carrie, held their own as always amongst the male crew, both drafting well.  Defending champion Kelly and Dane got to choose up the divisions, and Kelly chose every female for his division this year.  Interesting strategy, if it indeed was meant to be that way.  Farm Cats were once again the first team picked for division as was Captain Caveman who is the former School Boy, who stayed home, scared to join the fun.  Jimmie was too hung over he said to make it, as his Sea-Chickens was the highest rated drafted team by the RT site.  His hungover state would have fit right in though.  A-Dawgs again absent after saying he was going to be there, and even gave Brittany crap for not coming to live draft before the event only to skip out himself.  Sad.  Oh and Mikey was there too. Quiet and thoughtful as always.

Overall though, this is why we play this game, was for live drafts like last Sunday.  Golfing after was great, and The BEAST actually played the best!! Oh and the Commish almost decapitated the Norm Bud....sorry again Norm... "fooooooouuuurrrr".  And everyone loved the Commish's watch and the luxiourous line of Priuses that your Commish owns.  Thank you again for everyone who came to the draft!!  Thats really what this league has been all about and definitely had lost its way the past few year.  I'm already excited for next year and hoping even more can show.  Would love to do more for the weekend.  Once again complete participation would be nice, if Travis and Aaron can stop spooning, maybe we can get everyone there!!!

Enough rippings on the non participants, as we now focus on the season!  Games start this Thursday with Eagles and Cowboys.  Get your lineups ready!!  Lots of articles coming this year and draft grade will be out next week.  Some teams did really good, while some had some head scratchers.
