Kelly starts his championship defense
Tonight starts our first round of the playoffs, the quarterfinals and we look to find out who will capture the title in our 21st season!! As your Commish does each year, he will look at all 8 games that will be played in the main draw of the playoffs and offer predictions for the games, so lets get started:
According to the RT sports site, it lists Brew Crew as a 12 point favorite. It makes sense the wide point spread as Brew Crew comes in as perhaps the odds on favorite for winning it all this year. Tori's Cheeseheads cant be discredited tho. Les has benefited from his running backs stepping up at the right time. TreVon Henderson has emerged as the started for Patriots late in the season. Devon Achane has emerged as a top notch running back, and Dak Prescott and George Pickens have had all star seasons to lead the Brew Crew. Tori though has benefited from the trade with Spankyz to get Amon St. Brown and like Les, has benefited from Cowboys with having Javonte Williams as her running back stud. Tori was in the top 3 in her division, when Patrick Maholmes was racking up more points, most of the season, so its not a stretch to think she will be competive in this game. Prediction: Brew Crew moves on, but doesnt cover the spread 111-101
2. Jamodaddy 17-8 vs 3. 85 Bears 15-10
This game is only a 1 1/2 point spread in favor of Jamodaddy. Cam has seen his best season ever in our league lead to him being the #2 overall seed. Now the question is can Cam continue his dream season? It may all rely on Jonathan Taylor. Colts running back may be impacted with the loss of Daniel Jones and how Phillip Rivers may be able to contribute to keep the running back game going. And he also plays the defending champion. Kelly has made a habit recently of playoff upsets and making playoff runs. Kelly's team isnt as strong as usual, quarterback carosel this year with Brock Purdy, JJ McCarthy among others. Kyle Monagali emergence and Trey McBride being a top notch tight end has led to Kelly remaining competitive this year. But who will win this week? Prediction: Jamodaddys dream ride continues with a close 115-113 triumph!
1. Spankyz 17-8 vs 5. JH Express 12-13
Janke is back! And back again as a top seed! Spankyz opens with the biggest point spread, as a 17 point favorite to derail the Express. Jankes running back room of Derrick Henry and James Cook has been a tough double duo to top. Lamar Jackson has tho not has his normal season that has kept Spankyz vulnerable. The Express counters with Jared Goff, who can be up and down and a room full of rookie running backs of RJ Harvey, Ashton Jenty and Woody Marks. The problem with rookies, usually they are inconsistent. The Express shocked Spankyz a few weeks ago with a win, but will it happen again? Prediction: All signs say no to an upset and Spankyz with a fairly easy first round win 123-93
2. Injured Reserves 16-9 vs 3. Fish Ticklers 14-11
This will be a tricky one for Mikey to navigate as he is a 6 1/2 underdog against Jared Wilson's Fish Tickler who are in their second straight playoff, but this time as an automatic qualifier after last year being the 4 seed, but lottery selection. Jrods team has the potential to put up big numbers this year and this may be the week they do it again. Bijan Robinson and Puka Nauca are two of the best at thier positions, and Jrod has them both. Mikeys running back room hasn't been great relying this week on Kenneth Walker and Kareem Hunt. But, Jrod has to rely on rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, from the Saints for those who dont know, but he's been steadily getting better. Mikey's strength is his wide recievers thou, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and JaMarr Chase may be the best two wide tandum any of the playoff teams have. But who has the advantage? This one will be a nailbitter too, but Baker Mayfield wakes up for Mikey which is the difference in a 117-114 close call against the upstart Fish Ticklers.
