Indianapolis Colts rookie running back DJ Giddens will likely have the opportunity to win the RB2 job, and he could earn a weekly role on offense if he proves capable in the pass-blocking and pass-catching game, according to team reporter Jake Arthur. "Giddens may carve out some sort of role regardless of what's going on ahead of him with Jonathan Taylor and/or Khalil Herbert," Arthur wrote. "The Colts really like Giddens." The Kansas State product was the No. 151 overall pick (fifth-round) in the 2025 NFL Draft after posting 2,469 rushing yards, 581 receiving yards, and 21 total touchdowns over his final two collegiate seasons. He'll be competing with Herbert and Tyler Goodson to earn a spot behind Jonathan Taylor. For now, he's a late-round handcuff stash in deeper fantasy football leagues, but he's worth monitoring early in his first professional campaign.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart got reps with the second-team offense at Thursday's OTA practice, according to team reporter Jordan Raanan. The rookie out of Ole Miss has been primarily working with the third-team offense this offseason, so this is an encouraging sign. Dart, the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is in a quarterback room with veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, so he could be in for a "redshirt" campaign in his rookie season. However, the Giants' schedule is daunting, and Dart could be inserted in the lineup at any point if the team gets out to a poor start. In his final season with the Rebels, Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions en route to a 10-3 record. He's a risk-taker and likes to push the ball downfield, meaning he could be a great asset for Malik Nabers' fantasy football upside in the future.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee following the 2024 campaign but is expected to be ready for training camp. While it's never encouraging to hear about a player going under the knife, this procedure is a minor one and should not impact his ability in 2025. Over the last three seasons, St. Brown has averaged 113.3 receptions, 1,313 receiving yards, and 9.3 receiving touchdowns. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, the USC product remains a clear WR1 in fantasy football. Although offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is gone, he should remain the target hog in Detroit's offense.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is dealing with a shoulder injury and will not participate in minicamp next week, according to head coach Shane Steichen. Needless to say, this is discouraging news for the former No. 4 overall pick after he has struggled to stay healthy during the first two seasons of his career. Richardson has played in just 15 of his 34 possible games since the Colts picked him in the 2023 NFL Draft. Richardson is expected to compete with Daniel Jones for the QB1 job in Indianapolis, and more injury troubles won't help his cause. Although the 23-year-old possesses big fantasy upside due to his rushing skill set, it feels like the organization is close to pulling the plug on him as the QB of the future. He should be stashed in Superflex formats and will be on the fantasy in single-QB leagues if he starts, but Jones is looking more and more likely to run the offense to start 2025. Richardson has completed just 50.6% of his passes for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions so far in his young career.
From RotoBaller
Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright carried the ball only 68 times for 249 yards and caught three of his six targets for eight yards in his first year in the NFL in 2024. However, it was a learning experience for Wright behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. With Mostert now with the Raiders, Wright is expected to carry more of the load in 2025 next to Achane. Wright is bigger than Achane, has great long speed and excels in pass protection, and he has shown a hunger for a bigger role so far in organized team activities. The second-year RB also added six pounds of muscle in the offseason. With the Dolphins committed to improving their ground game this year -- they invested in the interior of their offensive line in the offseason -- it will only help Wright's cause in his sophomore season. If Achane were to miss time due to injury in 2025, Wright would immediately become a must-start RB in fantasy.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez (knee) isn't expected to return from his knee injury until November. Rodriguez made it through 10 games (six starts) for Detroit in 2024 in his third year in the league before tearing his ACL against the Chicago Bears and going on season-ending Injured Reserve. Before the serious knee injury, the 26-year-old had 43 tackles (27 solo), two sacks, and a fumble recovery. With Rodriguez's injury coming late in the season, he's not going to be ready for the start of the 2025 campaign and will just be hoping to rejoin the club in the second half of the season. Rodriguez has a total of 151 tackles (102 solo), three sacks, 10 tackles for loss, five QB hits, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his three NFL seasons and will remain off the IDP fantasy radar.

Washington Commanders All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin has made it clear to the team that he's frustrated with the lack of progress on a potential long-term contract extension, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. After initially attending voluntary organized team activities, McLaurin unexpectedly left the workouts, and it remains to be seen whether he'll report for mandatory minicamp this month. Talks have been minimal on an extension with the 29-year-old heading into the final year of his three-year, $68.2 million contract. Schultz write that it's a surprise that Washington hasn't prioritized a new deal for McLaurin so that he can continue developing chemistry with second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels. McLaurin's fantasy stock is on the rise after an 82-1,096-13 line in 17 regular-season games with Daniels in 2024, but a lengthy holdout could negatively impact his start to the 2025 campaign. Stay tuned.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that running back Jahmyr Gibbs has stood out this spring during voluntary organized team activities. This news really shouldn't surprise anyone. Gibbs, who was taken 12th overall in the 2023 NFL draft, has made the Pro Bowl in each of his two NFL seasons and took a step forward in 2024 with 250 rushing attempts, 1,412 rushing yards and a league-leading 16 rushing touchdowns, adding 52 receptions for the second straight season, 517 receiving yards and four receiving TDs in 17 regular-season games (four starts). Gibbs' increased production had a lot to do with David Montgomery missing time with a knee injury, but even with a healthy Montgomery stealing touches away from Gibbs in Detroit's backfield, the 23-year-old is so explosive and efficient that he'll remain a high-end RB1 in fantasy.
From RotoBaller
The Baltimore Ravens and wide receiver Rashod Bateman agreed to a three-year, $36.75 million contract extension on Thursday that includes $20 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. It's the second straight year that Bateman and the Ravens agreed to an extension after the team gave him a two-year, $12.87 million deal that ran through 2026 last April. Baltimore is rewarding the 25-year-old former 27th overall pick again a year later after his most productive season as a pro in 2024 after he caught 45 of his 72 targets for 756 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (14 starts) in his fourth year in the NFL. It was a nice showing, but Bateman's fantasy ceiling remains rather low with Zay Flowers serving as the WR1 in a run-first offense. The Ravens also now have veteran DeAndre Hopkins, which means Bateman will likely be a boom/bust fantasy commodity.
From RotoBaller
The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Wednesday that they signed outside linebacker Bud Dupree to a one-year contract extension worth $6 million. Dupree will be rewarded after a good first season in L.A. with 28 tackles (18 solo), six sacks, six tackles for loss, 10 QB hits, his second career interception, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in 17 regular-season games (no starts). The former 22nd overall selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2015 NFL draft out of Kentucky will return for a second season with the Bolts in 2025. The 32-year-old will try to help make up for the loss of pass-rusher Joey Bosa, who left in free agency in the offseason. Dupree had his most productive season in 2019 with the Steelers, when he recorded a career-high 11.5 sacks and 68 total tackles. Fantasy managers in IDP formats can ignore Dupree.

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday that they placed wide receiver Trent Taylor (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve and signed receiver Malik Knowles to an undisclosed one-year deal in a corresponding move. It's unclear exactly what Taylor's injury is, but he's now expected to miss the entire 2025 season. The 31-year-old former fifth-round pick (177th overall) in 2017 out of Louisiana Tech spent the first three years of his career in the Bay Area before going to the Cincinnati Bengals for two years and the Chicago Bears in 2023. In just two games in his return to the Niners last season, Taylor caught his only target for an 11-yard pickup. Taylor has been a depth piece in his career and has a total of 88 receptions for 845 yards and only three touchdowns on 138 targets over 80 games played (three starts) since debuting in 2017.
From RotoBaller
When asked about retirement down the road, Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley said could eventually be a spur-of-the-moment decision. "I'll probably be one of those guys that it would be out of nowhere," Barkley said. "I'll probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years and just be like, 'yeah, it's over.'" The 28-year-old had an eventful first year in Philly in 2024, leading the league in carries (345), rushing yards (2,005) and yards per game (125.3) in 16 regular-season starts while helping the Eagles win their second Super Bowl championship. It's hard to see the volume staying so high as he nears the dreaded 30-year-old mark for RBs, but as long as he stays healthy, Barkley should continue to be a high-end RB1 in fantasy in one of the best offenses in the NFL. While there's a lot to like about the three-time Pro Bowler, he'll also be one of the bigger bust candidates thanks to his injury history.
From RotoBaller
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free-agent wide receiver Trenton Irwin to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, according to KPRC 2 Sports' Aaron Wilson. Irwin will head to the AFC South after spending the first six seasons of his NFL career playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. The 29-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Stanford debuted in 2019 and has a total of 46 catches for 601 yards and five touchdowns on 72 targets in 41 games (nine starts) over his six seasons. In seven games (two starts) in his final season in Cincy, he had three receptions for 15 yards. Irwin won't be guaranteed a 53-man roster spot heading into the 2025 regular season and therefore must impress the coaching staff during training camp and the preseason. He'll be competing for a depth role behind Brian Thomas Jr., Dyami Brown, and rookie first-rounder Travis Hunter.
From RotoBaller
Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list because of a back injury.
From TheHuddle
The NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe says that both the Miami Dolphins and tight end Jonnu Smith want to continue their relationship in 2025. However, Smith has been a trade candidate of late because he's looking for a new deal after posting the best season ever for a tight end in Miami with 88 catches on 111 targets for 884 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 games (six starts) in 2024. The two sides prefer to try and work something out first, but if negotiations go sideways, we could see a trade. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the one team that we know has had talks with Miami about Smith as they look for more TE depth following the torn Achilles for Donald Parham Jr. Even before the injury to Parham, the Steelers were looking for another playmaker to join receiver DK Metcalf. Although Smith has familiarity with Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, for fantasy purposes, his ceiling is probably higher in Miami.
From RotoBaller
Former Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins is headed to Denver on Wednesday night to have dinner with coaches and to visit the Broncos facility on Thursday, a source tells NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Dobbins, who was originally taken 55th overall in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens out of Ohio State, had a career-best 905 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns on 195 rushing attempts in his lone season with the Chargers in 2024, adding a career-high 32 catches for 153 additional yards in 13 regular-season games (11 starts). If the Broncos were to sign the 26-year-old, it would put a damper on second-round rookie RB RJ Harvey's first-year fantasy value. Dobbins, given his extensive injury history, would almost certainly work alongside Harvey and Jaleel McLaughlin in a committee backfield if he lands in Denver.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (undisclosed) did not participate in the offseason workout Tuesday, June 3, but is expected to be ready for training camp, according to a source. Mixon has been wearing a walking boot this offseason, according to sources.
Fantasy Spin: Mixon probably does not need much work this offseason to prepare for the season, so he may not be on the field again until training camp. He will receive most of the work at running back if is healthy and can be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans WR Jaylin Noel (undisclosed), WR Braxton Berrios (knee) and QB Graham Mertz (knee) worked on the side with trainers during practice Tuesday, June 3.
From TheHuddle
New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr was placed on the Reserve/Retired list Tuesday, June 3.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (undisclosed) participated on the offseason workout Tuesday, June 3, after missing time last week.
Fantasy Spin: Schultz likely will be the starting tight end for the Texans this upcoming season, but it is not known how involved he will be in the passing game. He can be considered a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.
