It's unfortunate news for the veteran, who just returned from a lengthy absence due to a knee injury in Week 16. For now, teammate Colby Parkinson will work as the team's primary tight end, with Hunter Long and Davis Allen working in behind him.

As recently as last week, there was a feeling inside the Las Vegas Raiders' team headquarters that owner Mark Davis would give head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco another year to figure things out after a 4-13 finish in 2024. However, seven-time Super Bowl-champion Tom Brady, who purchased 5% of the team last October, felt a total reset was needed and persuaded Davis to fire both Pierce and Telesco. "This is Tom's show now," a person with knowledge of the situation said. Davis will make the final call on decisions for the franchise, but Davis wants Brady to have a "huge" voice and has a lot of trust in him. By firing Telesco, the Raiders have made the head-coach job more attractive to potential coaches, and the Raiders are willing to consider a package deal if their top coaching candidates have preferred front-office leaders in mind.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tyler Johnson is a healthy inactive for Monday night's wild-card showdown in Arizona against the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson will be the odd-man out for the Rams offense on Monday night after playing a season-high 49 offensive snaps in the Week 18 loss to the division-rival Seattle Seahawks in the regular-season finale with both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp resting. The 26-year-old pass-catcher will now hope the Rams can beat the Vikings to advance to the Divisional Round next weekend in Philadelphia versus the Eagles. The former fifth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2020 out of Minnesota caught 26 of his 41 targets for 291 yards and only one touchdown (in Week 18) in 15 games (two starts) in his second season with LA and wasn't on the fantasy radar in 12-team formats.

Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers (illness), who was listed as questionable for Monday night's wild-card game in Arizona against the Los Angeles Rams, is active and will be available. Akers popped up on the injury report this week on Saturday due to an illness and did not practice, but he's feeling better on Monday and should serve in his usual role as a change-of-pace option in Minnesota's backfield behind starter Aaron Jones. The 25-year-old will be a touchdown-dependent flex play, at best, against his former team in this one. Akers started the 2024 season with the Houston Texans before being acquired by the Vikings. In his 12 games in Minnesota this year, Akers has averaged 4.6 yards per carry and 5.3 rushing attempts per game, adding 297 rushing yards and three total TDs (two receiving). Unless Jones is hurt mid-game, Akers carries limited fantasy upside as the RB2.

The Minnesota Vikings were reportedly considering elevating quarterback Daniel Jones to No. 2 QB duties for their wild-card playoff matchup on Monday against the Los Angeles Rams behind starter Sam Darnold, but Jones is officially inactive as the emergency third QB. Veteran Nick Mullens would be forced into action for the Vikes on Monday night if anything were to happen to Darnold. The 27-year-old Jones was cut by the New York Giants earlier this year and latched onto the Vikings' practice squad in late November, but he wasn't signed to Minnesota's active 53-man roster until last Tuesday. Jones will only be allowed to enter Monday's playoff game against the Rams in Arizona if both Darnold and Mullens are forced to exit due to injuries. Perhaps if the Vikings advance to the Divisional Round next weekend, Jones might leapfrog Mullens on the QB depth chart.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is a name to watch for the head-coach opening for the Dallas Cowboys after they parted ways with Mike McCarthy on Monday. Dallas' head-coaching immediately becomes one of the most coveted positions in football given Dallas' roster, most notably with quarterback Dak Prescott (hamstring) and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. CBS' Jonathan Jones speculates that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could try to get former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to leave the University of North Carolina to return to the NFL for Dallas' job. Moore spent eight years in Dallas as a player and coach, including four seasons as their offensive coordinator. He was the coordinator when the Cowboys led the NFL in points and yards per game in 2021.

After parting ways with head coach Mike McCarthy on Monday, the Dallas Cowboys will quickly move on to trying to find his replacement this offseason, and CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reports that University of North Carolina head coach and former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick could be at the top of owner Jerry Jones' wish list. Belichick and Jones have had a good relationship over the decades, and sources indicated that Belichick had interest in the Dallas head-coach job if it should open up. Belichick is now the head coach for the Tar Heels, but he has a $10 million buyout if he were to leave UNC before June 1. The buyout drops to $1 million after June 1 of this year. If Dallas is willing to wait, they could also be interested in Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who already interviewed with the Patriots, Jaguars, Raiders and Bears for their head-coach jobs over the weekend.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that the New Orleans Saints are expected to have interest in Mike McCarthy for their head-coach opening after the Dallas Cowboys chose not to extend him a new contract. The Chicago Bears requested to interview McCarthy last week, but the Cowboys declined the request. Now that McCarthy is now a free agent, he'll most likely interview with the Bears and Saints, with other teams potentially jumping into the mix. During his five seasons as the head coach of the Cowboys, McCarthy went 49-35, but his 1-3 record in the postseason was his undoing. With a Super Bowl ring to his name as a member of the Green Bay Packers, teams looking for a head coach moving forward should have plenty of interest in McCarthy. Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed on Monday that rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol after he suffered a head injury in the 31-7 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday on wild-card weekend. Davis was hit hard by Broncos defensive back Brandon Jones in the third quarter and stayed down on the field for a while before eventually being taken to the locker room. The 25-year-old did not return and finished the blowout win with only one carry for three yards. Fellow backfield mate Ty Johnson ended up having a big game with a season-high nine carries for 44 yards and two receptions for 26 yards and his third receiving TD of the year. Davis will now have to pass through the concussion protocol in order to play in the Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills. If Davis isn't cleared, Johnson would have a larger role again as James Cook's backup.

New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said on Monday that he doesn't have any plans to retire this offseason and expects the team's front office to remain intact heading into the 2025 season. Loomis also said the team has plenty of confidence in quarterback Derek Carr despite the fact that he missed seven games due to injury in 2024, although he stopped short of saying Carr would be the starter in 2025. The first order of business for the Saints this offseason is finding a new head coach after they fired Dennis Allen in the middle of the year. New Orleans was a popular preseason pick to win the NFC South, but instead they finished 5-12 and last in the division. "I'm positive. I'm glass half-full at all times. Even in a 5-12 season, I see a lot of things that were positive that we can build on," Loomis said. "So I'm on the side of, man, this thing can go the other direction pretty quickly."

New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said on Monday that he still has a high level of confidence in quarterback Derek Carr. In his second season in New Orleans, Carr missed the final four games of the season due to a concussion and broken hand and missed a total of seven games due to injury in total. In the 10 starts that Carr did make, he completed 67.7% of his 279 pass attempts for a career-low 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. The four-time Pro Bowler has played in only 17 games in his two seasons in the Big Easy and carries an absurd $51 million salary cap hit in 2025. The 33-year-old doesn't have any guaranteed money left on the final two years of his deal, but it will still be tough for the Saints to move on given his salary cap hit. Carr's $30 million base salary and $10 million roster bonus for 2025 will kick in in the middle of March, so we should have more clarity by then.

When asked if he will return to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025, quarterback Russell Wilson said, "that's the plan." Wilson also said he "loves it" in Pittsburgh, but the decision on whether he will return next season ultimately isn't his decision to make. After signing a one-year deal with Pittsburgh, the eight-time Pro Bowler got a late start to the 2024 campaign due to a lingering calf injury. He eventually took over the starting gig from Justin Fields and completed 63.7% of his 336 pass attempts for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 starts during the regular season. Wilson definitely gave the offense a spark, but the Steelers ran out of gas late and he just didn't have enough weapons through the air to make him a realistic QB1 option on a weekly basis. If the veteran QB returns to the Steel City, the Steelers should be looking to give him better weapons to work with.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (shoulder) said on Monday that he will not need surgery on his shoulder after suffering a dislocation late in Sunday's 22-10 wild-card playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. "Thank God for that," Reed said. The 24-year-old slot receiver should be healed in time to take part in the team's offseason workouts this spring. Reed is one of Green Bay's best big-play threats through the air and on the ground, but he was inconsistent yet again as a fantasy commodity in the second half of the season and finished with a 55-857-6 receiving line on 75 targets through 17 regular-season games, adding 163 rushing yards and one TD on the ground on 20 carries. The former second-rounder finished as the WR26 in half-PPR scoring and will open his third season as a boom/bust WR3/flex option for fantasy managers.

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) declined to speak to the media in the locker room on Sunday following the team's season-ending 22-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round of the playoffs and said he didn't know if he'd be back with the team in 2025. The 27-year-old defensive back finished the year on Injured Reserve due to a knee injury and was limited to seven games during the regular season for the second straight year, his seventh in Green Bay. The Packers would save around $7 million against the 2025 salary cap if they were to cut him and could save $17 million if they designate Alexander as a post-June 1 cut. Given the fact that Alexander hasn't been able to stay on the field in recent seasons, there's a good chance he'll be let go. Alexander has been solid when healthy, but expecting him to stay healthy at this point as he nears 30 years old is a big question mark.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (back) was kneed in the back in the second quarter of Saturday's wild-card win over the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers. However, head coach John Harbaugh didn't seem too concerned on Monday that it would affect Jackson's practice status this week. "It doesn't look that way, from what I've been told," Harbaugh said. The 28-year-old Jackson, who could win his second straight MVP award for the 2024 season, was seen grimacing late in the 28-14 win over Pittsburgh, but he never left the game and should be fine to play in a Divisional Round showdown versus the Buffalo Bills at Orchard Park this coming weekend. Jackson threw for only 175 yards but added two passing TDs and 81 rushing yards against the Steelers. In what should be a high-scoring shootout against Buffalo, Jackson will be a high-end, expensive starting QB in fantasy.

When asked about the status of wide receiver Zay Flowers (knee) for the upcoming Divisional Round showdown against the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said they are in "we'll-see" mode. "He's working hard to get back. We'll see toward the end of the week if he's practicing. He can play without practicing, for sure, if he feels healthy enough and it's safe for him," Harbaugh said. Flowers sprained his knee in the Week 18 win over the Cleveland Browns and was inactive for the wild-card playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. The 24-year-old could play this weekend against Buffalo without practicing, but he'd be a much riskier lineup option for fantasy managers. Denver Broncos linebacker Jonah Elliss (shoulder) sustained a shoulder injury in Sunday's 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills and did not return. The 21-year-old was initially deemed questionable to return after injuring his shoulder in the second quarter. However, as the second half began, he was ruled out. While the extent of the injury is unknown, he'll have an entire offseason's worth of time to rest after Denver's first-round exit. Elliss never played more than 55% of snaps in a given week but appeared in each outing of his rookie season. He'll end his first year in the NFL with 38 tackles (24 solo), five sacks, seven tackles for loss, and two pass breakups.

According to the NFL's Ian Rapoport, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is a "name to watch" regarding the Las Vegas Raiders head-coaching job. Johnson is a highly sought-after candidate yet again in the coaching cycle, which comes as little surprise considering the success he's bolstered since taking over the position for the team. Since 2022, the Lions have ranked in the top five in the league regarding points per game -- landing at the top spot in 2024 with 33.2. Johnson has already interviewed virtually with New England, Jacksonville, and Chicago. However, his involvement with the Raiders appears to have some of Tom Brady's influence behind it. Rapoport reports that Brady personally vouched for the offensive coordinator and "implored him" to take the interview. With the NFL Insider also noting that Las Vegas is willing to wait "as long as it takes" to fill their coaching vacancies, it appears they're in on the Lions' play-caller for the long haul.

The Indianapolis Colts will interview former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen for their defensive-coordinator position on Friday, according to a source. Allen, who is considered one of the top candidates for defensive coordinator this cycle, will take his time making a decision and is expected to have several options. Indy is looking for a new D coordinator after firing Gus Bradley following the 2024 season. The Saints fired Allen in the middle of the year after starting 2-7. He went 18-25 in his time as the head coach in New Orleans following the departure of Sean Payton. Before becoming the head coach in New Orleans, Allen was the team's defensive coordinator for seven years. Allen was the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders earlier in his career but went 8-28. In addition to Allen, the Colts are looking at Ephraim Banda, Steve Wilks and Lou Anarumo.

The Cleveland Browns will interview New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for their offensive-coordinator vacancy on Monday, according to a source. Kubiak is a rising offensive coach with a long history with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. Kubiak, 37, and Stefanski had two different stints working together with the Minnesota Vikings. Kubiak was an offensive quality-control coach from 2013-14 when Stefanski was assistant quarterbacks coach and tight ends coach. Kubiak was then the Vikings QBs coach when Stefanski was the offensive coordinator in 2019. Cleveland is searching for a new offensive coordinator this cycle after firing Ken Dorsey after the season. In addition to the Browns, the Seattle Seahawks are looking at Kubiak for their OC job after they fired Ryan Grubb.
