The Denver Broncos had high hopes for tight end Evan Engram when they signed him in free agency this offseason, and they are liking what they have seen so far from him during voluntary organized team activities. Engram was limited to nine games in 2024 with the Jacksonville Jaguars due to hamstring and shoulder injuries, but he's a two-time Pro Bowler who had 114 catches for 963 yards as recently as 2023. Head coach Sean Payton has a desire to add a Joker player to the offense, and he pitched the idea to Engram before he signed. Payton said Engram has shown "real good instincts" during workouts. The 30-year-old veteran has been impressed with quarterback Bo Nix and wants to help him take the next step in his development in his second NFL season. As the potential No. 2 target behind receiver Courtland Sutton, Engram has plenty of bounce-back potential as a TE1 in 2025 in fantasy.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (groin) has not been participating in voluntary organized team activities this spring after missing the final three games in 2024 due to a groin injury. However, Kamara is expected to be recovered from the injury and should be back in action for the start of mandatory minicamp from June 10-12. There's no question that the 29-year-old will remain the team's lead back under new head coach Kellen Moore, but The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Matthew Paras writes that the competition behind Kamara is wide open between Kendre Miller, rookie Devin Neal and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Kamara is nearing the dreaded 30-year-old mark for RBs, but the volume should continue to be there in 2025 to make him fantasy relevant. Injuries are becoming more of a concern, but Kamara should continue to be a stud in PPR leagues.
From RotoBaller
Former New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (shoulder) made a surprising decision to hang up his cleats and retire from the NFL this offseason. "That part was tough because I didn't want to have surgery and just sit there andit sounds crazy butjust take the Saints money," Carr said. He had two seasons left on the four-year, $150 million deal he signed with the Saints in 2023, although he gave up the $30 million salary he was set to earn in 2025. The four-time Pro Bowler was dealing with a right-shoulder injury that was going to require surgery and leave his availability uncertain for the start of the regular season this fall. Carr said the Saints wanted him to keep playing, but he couldn't commit to another season. With Carr now gone, the Saints will have a QB competition this summer, primarily between rookie second-rounder Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler.
From RotoBaller
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen has been impressed with quarterback Trevor Lawrence as he learns a new offense during voluntary organized team activities this spring. "Is he operating the offense at a high level?" Coen asked. "Yes, he is right now." The new head coach has stressed footwork for the former first overall pick, and he has seen improvement from Lawrence in that area as well. 2024 was a disappointment for Lawrence due to injuries and poor performance, as he completed just 60.6% of his passes for 2,045 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games. His fantasy stock is obviously way down going into 2025, but Lawrence should be more efficient with Coen in town and after the team added two-way star Travis Hunter with the second overall pick in the draft. Still, nobody should be considering Lawrence a QB1 in fantasy.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua said he has already learned a lot from veteran wideout Davante Adams. Since gaining knowledge from the 11-year NFL veteran, Nacua's route-running has looked sharper in practice, according to offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. It appears Nacua is using more of the "elusive" methods off the line of scrimmage instead of the brute force he often applies at the start of his routes. The 24-year-old is already one of the best wideouts in the NFL after ranking in the top 10 in yards per route run against man coverage (seventh) and zone coverage (first), but the former fifth-rounder in 2023 could become even more deadly if he adds some finesse to his physical style of play. Nacua set the rookie receiving record in 2023 and was more efficient in 2024 despite not reaching 1,000 yards due to a knee injury. Injuries could be an issue, but Nacua is a high-end WR1 otherwise.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (knee) had an initial injury scare in voluntary OTA practice on Thursday when he bumped knees with a defender, but he's expected to be OK, a source told FOX 59's Mike Chappell. Pittman is sore and expected to be fine, but he'll likely be held out of mandatory minicamp next week as a precaution. The initial thought was that the 27-year-old former second-round pick (34th overall) in 2020 out of USC was dealing with another back injury, which was something he battled through for the majority of the 2024 campaign. He should be ready to go for training camp this summer as he looks to bounce back from a 69-808-3 line in 16 games (14 starts) in 2024. Pittman still has WR2 upside, but as a possession receiver, his best-case scenario for fantasy upside in 2025 is if Daniel Jones wins the QB battle over Anthony Richardson (shoulder).
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is reportedly dealing with inflammation in the surgically repaired AC joint in his right arm, and he's been recommended rest, according to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones. The belief is the injury won't impact his availability for the start of training camp this summer. The 23-year-old former fourth overall pick's injury doesn't sound serious, but he's off to a bad start in the offseason competition with Daniel Jones and won't practice during mandatory minicamp next week. It's also an injury that cut short his rookie year in 2023. Richardson has elite rushing ability, which gives him a much higher fantasy ceiling than Jones, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy and still has plenty of developing to do as a passer. Nothing is decided yet, but Jones is gaining momentum because of this. The former Florida Gator is losing steam in dynasty/keeper formats.
From RotoBaller
The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to terms with former Los Angeles Rams defensive back Quindell Johnson on a one-year, $960,000 contract. Johnson signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent back in 2023, but was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears, with whom he spent the season. He appeared in nine games for the team, notching an interception and two tackles. In 2024, the Memphis product rejoined Los Angeles, though he did not suit up for a single contest. Johnson is currently ranked third (unofficially) on the Steelers' depth chart behind safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and Juan Thornhill. That is where he projects to operate if he makes the team.
From RotoBaller
Per the team, the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot to an undisclosed contract. The eight-year pro spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Jaguars before a one-year stint with the Buffalo Bills in 2024. He played in 11 games last season, notching 16 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two fumbles forced while participating on 29.17% of the Bills' defensive snaps. Jacksonville's defense was a middle-of-the-road unit a year ago, and Smoot projects to play a decent amount of snaps for the team, considering their lack of depth on the defensive front. He's currently listed second on the Jaguars' unofficial depth chart behind fellow edge rusher Travon Walker.
From RotoBaller
The Seattle Seahawks' offense is going to look quite a bit different in 2025 under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. When asked about the new offense, right tackle Abraham Lucas said, "just downhill, running off the ball, establishing the run. I know we got a lot of criticism for that, so moving into this year, we're looking to really get after it in the run game, specifically." Head coach Mike Macdonald has said he wants the offense "to be a physical unit and dictate terms to the defense." Lucas said running the ball in 2025 will be "non-negotiable" with the new offensive staff, which is telling and good news for running backs Kenneth Walker III and backup Zach Charbonnet. Another sign Seattle is committed to running the ball a lot is their emphasis on using a fullback. Walker should be in for plenty of volume this year, but he'll be a risk/reward RB1 because of his history with lower-body injuries.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore is unsure exactly what his specific role is going to be in new head coach Ben Johnson's offense in 2025. Moore finished with a career-low 56.8 receiving yards per game while catching 98 of his 140 targets for 966 yards and six touchdowns in 17 starts. The 28-year-old had a career-best 1,364 receiving yards and a career-high eight touchdowns in his first year in Chicago with Justin Fields at quarterback, but he struggled to gel with Caleb Williams in his rookie season, especially early on. "Right now I don't have goals because I'm still learning everything and I don't even know if I'm going to touch the ball as much as I did some years or if I'm going to be used the same way," Moore said. He could be used in the slot, but the Bears also added tight end Colston Loveland and receiver Luther Burden III in this year's draft.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that tight end Sam LaPorta has been a standout during voluntary organized team activities this offseason. Campbell also praised plenty of other Lions players, but LaPorta is a notable one after he took a step back in Year 2 in 2024 with a 60-726-7 line in 16 regular-season starts. As a Pro Bowler in his rookie campaign, the 24-year-old went for 86 receptions on 120 targets for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (14 starts). The former second-rounder (34th overall) in 2023 out of Iowa finished the year better, but there are just a lot of mouths to feed in Detroit's offense. The Lions will be run by new offensive coordinator John Morton in 2025, but LaPorta should still be a go-to red zone target for quarterback Jared Goff as a high-end TE1.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts (foot) has been sitting out of voluntary organized team activities this spring with a muscle strain in his foot. Reports surfaced this offseason that teams have approached the Falcons about trading for Pitts. ESPN's Adam Schefter doesn't think the Falcons are looking to trade the 24-year-old former first-rounder, but they aren't turning away calls, either. Schefter goes on to say that if another team offers enough for Pitts, that the Falcons "could be enticed" to trade him. Complicating matters is the fact that he's due $11 million 2025, and there might not be many teams lining up to give both the Falcons and Pitts what they want as he heads into the final year of his deal. Pitts' fantasy stock has been falling since his impressive rookie season, and an offseason injury and trade speculation don't do anything to help that. Until further notice, he's dropped to high-end TE2 status.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (undisclosed) got tangled up while running a route during OTA practice on Thursday and went down, according to The Athletic's James Boyd. Pittman got up, limped off the field and didn't return to practice. It's unclear how serious Pittman's injury is right now, but we should know more before the team begins mandatory minicamp next week. It's worth noting that the 27-year-old played through a small fracture in his back for much of last year, though. The Colts' bad quarterback situation didn't help Pittman's cause, and he finished with a disappointing 69-808-3 line in 16 games played. Pittman's best bet for a resurgence in 2025 will be with better health and probably with Daniel Jones winning the QB competition. The addition of rookie tight end Tyler Warren won't help Pittman's volume concerns.
From RotoBaller
The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to sign free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Friday, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The 41-year-old has been rumored to land with the Steelers all offseason, and the deal is finally getting done. The four-time MVP's stint with the New York Jets did not go as planned, as he suffered a torn Achilles in his first game with the franchise before posting a 5-12 record in 2024. His counting stats (3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions) were solid, but he looked like a shell of his former self at times a season ago. Despite that, he's a better option at quarterback than Mason Rudolph and Will Howard, so the Steelers are bringing him in on a one-year deal. His fantasy upside is limited in what will likely be a run-heavy offense, and the Steelers are lacking weaponry behind wideout DK Metcalf.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Lions defensive tackle Tyleik Williams (undisclosed) has not practiced this week as he deals with an injury. The Ohio State product suffered a hamstring injury at his March 26 Pro Day, but head coach Dan Campbell did not specify if it was the same injury he is rehabbing now. "These rookies, we're trying to get them right before they get out for summer, and we bring them back," Campbell said. "We went them ready and healthy to go, full speed for training camp." It sounds as if Campbell is not worried about his availability later this offseason. Williams, the No. 28 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, registered 136 tackles (56 solo), 28 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks in 51 career collegiate games. He is expected to be a starter eventually, but he could begin his career as a rotational piece on the interior along with Alim McNeill and DJ Reeder.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts rookie running back DJ Giddens will likely have the opportunity to win the RB2 job, and he could earn a weekly role on offense if he proves capable in the pass-blocking and pass-catching game, according to team reporter Jake Arthur. "Giddens may carve out some sort of role regardless of what's going on ahead of him with Jonathan Taylor and/or Khalil Herbert," Arthur wrote. "The Colts really like Giddens." The Kansas State product was the No. 151 overall pick (fifth-round) in the 2025 NFL Draft after posting 2,469 rushing yards, 581 receiving yards, and 21 total touchdowns over his final two collegiate seasons. He'll be competing with Herbert and Tyler Goodson to earn a spot behind Jonathan Taylor. For now, he's a late-round handcuff stash in deeper fantasy football leagues, but he's worth monitoring early in his first professional campaign.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart got reps with the second-team offense at Thursday's OTA practice, according to team reporter Jordan Raanan. The rookie out of Ole Miss has been primarily working with the third-team offense this offseason, so this is an encouraging sign. Dart, the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is in a quarterback room with veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, so he could be in for a "redshirt" campaign in his rookie season. However, the Giants' schedule is daunting, and Dart could be inserted in the lineup at any point if the team gets out to a poor start. In his final season with the Rebels, Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions en route to a 10-3 record. He's a risk-taker and likes to push the ball downfield, meaning he could be a great asset for Malik Nabers' fantasy football upside in the future.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee following the 2024 campaign but is expected to be ready for training camp. While it's never encouraging to hear about a player going under the knife, this procedure is a minor one and should not impact his ability in 2025. Over the last three seasons, St. Brown has averaged 113.3 receptions, 1,313 receiving yards, and 9.3 receiving touchdowns. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, the USC product remains a clear WR1 in fantasy football. Although offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is gone, he should remain the target hog in Detroit's offense.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is dealing with a shoulder injury and will not participate in minicamp next week, according to head coach Shane Steichen. Needless to say, this is discouraging news for the former No. 4 overall pick after he has struggled to stay healthy during the first two seasons of his career. Richardson has played in just 15 of his 34 possible games since the Colts picked him in the 2023 NFL Draft. Richardson is expected to compete with Daniel Jones for the QB1 job in Indianapolis, and more injury troubles won't help his cause. Although the 23-year-old possesses big fantasy upside due to his rushing skill set, it feels like the organization is close to pulling the plug on him as the QB of the future. He should be stashed in Superflex formats and will be on the fantasy in single-QB leagues if he starts, but Jones is looking more and more likely to run the offense to start 2025. Richardson has completed just 50.6% of his passes for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions so far in his young career.
