The 26-year-old suffered a torn ACL and MCL in October of last season, so the recovery timeline makes it realistic for him to be ready for the start of the new campaign. Following a 1,400-yard receiving season in 2023, the 49ers signed Aiyuk to a four-year, $120 million contract. Unfortunately, he could only produce 25 receptions for 374 yards and no touchdowns in seven games in 2024. That said, Aiyuk could be a value pick in fantasy football coming off the injury, especially since Deebo Samuel appears to finally be on the way out of San Francisco via trade at some point this offseason.

Rumors have been swirling that New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr could be traded or cut this offseason, but NFL insider Adam Schefter said Carr "will probably be the team's QB1 entering 2025." Carr has $10 million in contract guarantees with another $30 million scheduled to kick in on March 15. The organization moving on from the veteran would only save them a few million dollars against the cap, so it's not likely to happen. Since signing with New Orleans ahead of the 2023 campaign, the former Las Vegas Raider has thrown for 6,023 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 27 games. At Fresno State, Carr played against Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore, who is now his head coach in the NFL.

Former Syracuse University quarterback Kyle McCord enjoyed a monster final collegiate season after transferring from Ohio State. The 22-year-old tallied 4,779 passing yards, 37 total touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in his lone season with the Orange. Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, McCord is not viewed as a top-five signal caller in the class, but according to CBS' survey of anonymous NFL scouts, he could be a Day 3 sleeper to monitor. "Poise in the pocket and anticipation," a scout said. "Not flustered by pressure. When he's playing on time, it looks good. Not the best arm or the most mobile but lays it all on the line. Love how he fought through the Ohio State situation and flourished despite a lot of questions about his ability. Real competitor. That chip on his shoulder will be there his whole career." In one of the weaker quarterback classes in recent memory, it wouldn't be a shocker if he sneaks his way into the fourth round of April's draft. If he lands behind a shaky starting quarterback, he could be worth a stash in deeper Superflex dynasty formats.

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York reaffirmed the team's commitment to keeping quarterback Brock Purdy around long-term. "I know we want Brock to be here for a long time and we'll do everything we can to make that work," York said Monday. After selecting Purdy with the final pick of the 2022 draft, he has led them to two playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl, in his three years in the league. Now eligible for a new contract, the 49ers have remained committed to giving the 25-year-old a big contract he deserves. Both sides have been in talks on an extension, with Purdy saying last month that he wanted something "done quick" so that negotiations didn't extend into the offseason program. Even though Purdy's numbers dipped in 2024, he could land a deal worth more than $55 million per season. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is finalizing a deal with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday to become their new head coach. This was the expectation all along, but nothing could become official until after Super Bowl LIX, which Moore's Eagles won 40-22 over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles averaged 27.2 points per game in the regular season (seventh in the league) and a league-best 36.3 points per game in the playoffs under the 36-year-old Moore. He will be the first Saints head coach to come from outside the building since Sean Payton stepped away following the 2021 season. Previous defensive coordinator Dennis Allen was promoted to head coach, but the Saints fired him midway through the 2024 season. Unlike Allen, Moore will be a first-time head coach with an offensive mind.

Impending free-agent middle linebacker Nick Bolton indicated that he'd like to re-sign with the Kansas City Chiefs after the team's 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in Super Bowl LIX. The Washington Commanders are expected to be very aggressive this offseason as they look to improve their defense, and they'll have more than $68 million in salary cap space. Washington will certainly be a team to watch if the Cleveland Browns give in to All-Pro pass-rusher Myles Garrett's trade demands, but The Athletic's Zac Jackson also believes they'll be a candidate to trade for Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II (hamstring). If the Browns were to trade Newsome this offseason, it would open up around $13 million in 2025 cap space and allow Cleveland to add pieces to their roster, potentially even a veteran starting quarterback. Once the New Orleans Saints officially hire Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their next head coach, The Athletic's Michael Silver expects Moore to have strong interest in former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley as his defensive coordinator. Moore served as Staley's offensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023, and Staley was the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams' No. 1 defense in 2020. In his three seasons as the Chargers' head coach, Staley was unable to make the playoffs while going 24-24. He was the assistant head coach for the San Francisco 49ers under Kyle Shanahan in 2024. The Athletic's Zac Jackson writes that the Cleveland Browns might only be able to afford players like the Atlanta Falcons' Kirk Cousins or Minnesota Vikings' Daniel Jones as their bridge quarterback this offseason. According to Over the Cap, Cleveland is projected to be $38.6 million over the 2025 salary cap, but the next anticipated restructure of QB Deshaun Watson's contract will clear up around $36 million in cap space. The status of QBs Derek Carr, Geno Smith and Russell Wilson will dictate how expensive Cousins and Jones will be this offseason. Cousins isn't a free agent, but the Atlanta Falcons probably will find it hard to trade him because of the $10 million roster bonus he's due after the start of the new league year. Along with his drop in production in 2024, it could suppress Samuel's trade market, but NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco lists the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans as a few teams that could be interested in acquiring Samuel from the Niners. The 32-year-old made his Super Bowl debut in his 13th season in the league. Despite finding the end zone, Hopkins did not do much to impress in this contest. The Eagles defense suffocated the Chiefs offense, holding them to 23 total yards in the first half. The veteran receiver also caught a two-point conversion after the game's final touchdown. Hopkins finished third on the team in targets and receiving yards, behind Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce. Hopkins was acquired by the team at the trade deadline and will be a free agent this offseason. It remains to be seen where Hopkins will land, but he demonstrated his ability to be a reliable WR2/3 on a competing team.

The 35-year-old needed two touchdowns to tie Jerry Rice's playoff touchdown record, but failed to catch any in his last two games. Worthy was the lone bright spot for Kansas City in this contest, catching multiple 50-yard passes from Mahomes. The 21-year-old showed off his speed on the game's final touchdown, beating two safeties to the end zone for a 50-yard score. The speedy rookie led the team in catches, receiving yards, and targets. Worthy took center stage with Travis Kelce underperforming in this contest. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 21 of 32 pass attempts (66%) for 257 yards and three touchdowns in the 22-40 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes missed out on achieving the first three-peat in NFL history and picked up his second Super Bowl loss in five appearances. The veteran quarterback ended with a solid statistical performance, but the box score does not tell the story of this game. Mahomes threw two interceptions in the first half of the game, one being returned for a pick-six. The Chiefs offense only had 23 total yards and one first down by the time the game reached halftime. The 29-year-old was also constantly under pressure from the Eagles front four. Mahomes was sacked six times, one leading to a lost fumble. The Chiefs scored their first points of the game with 34 seconds left in the third quarter. With two more garbage time touchdowns in the fourth quarter, Mahomes scored three times in the blowout loss. With the future of Travis Kelce uncertain following this huge loss, it remains to be seen what the Chiefs will look like next season. Despite the uncertainty, the Mahomes and the Chiefs have the talent and coaching staff to stay relevant for years.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones (knee) injured his right knee in the 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday and never returned after getting a doubtful tag. Jones' injury didn't look too serious, but with the game essentially already over in the second half at the time of his injury, the Chiefs didn't feel it was necessary to risk further damage by bringing him back. Before hurting his knee, the 30-year-old pass-rusher was seen getting his neck worked on by trainers on the sidelines, but he was able to return to the game. It was a very disappointing performance by Jones and the entire Chiefs defense against an elite Philadelphia offensive line. Jones didn't record any tackles or sacks before injuring his knee in the second half and had only one QB hit.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Dallas Cowboys are internally discussing whether to trade All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons or to sign him to a monster contract extension this offseason that would surely make him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. Executive vice president Stephen Jones expressed hesitation earlier this year about tying up a large chunk of the team's money in one player, but the Cowboys haven't made any final decisions on their plan with Parsons this offseason. Despite missing four games in 2024 due to an ankle injury, the 25-year-old managed to record 12 sacks in 13 games played, marking the fourth straight season he's had at least 12 sacks for the Cowboys. He's heading into the final year of his rookie contract. If Dallas chooses to trade Parsons, there will be no shortage of suitors.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy (knee), who missed all of his rookie year in the NFL after having knee surgery for a torn right meniscus, is expected to be ready for organized team activities this spring. He should be able to return to football activities in the next couple of weeks. However, the Vikings are still considering all of their options with impending free-agent QB Sam Darnold, who had a career year in Minnesota on a one-year deal in 2024. If Minnesota doesn't re-sign Darnold by March 4, they could place a franchise tag on him, which could allow McCarthy to develop for one more year behind Darnold. The Vikings also still have former Giants QB Daniel Jones, so if Darnold leaves in free agency, Jones would be an insurance policy in case the team doesn't feel McCarthy is ready to start early in the 2025 season.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Baltimore Ravens and running back Derrick Henry are expected to start contract-extension talks early this offseason. Henry made $11 million in his first year with the Ravens in 2024 and is scheduled to make $7 million in his second year with the team in 2025. The 31-year-old King Henry proved this year that he still has plenty left in the tank and he recently told The Athletic that he would like to retire with the Ravens. Henry finished the 2024 campaign with 1,921 rushing yards -- the second-highest total of his career -- and a league-high 16 rushing touchdowns in 17 regular-season games to earn his fifth Pro Bowl selection. Despite the fact that Henry has a ton of tread on his tires and is an offense with quarterback Lamar Jackson, he will remain a high-end RB1 target in fantasy this fall.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert caught each of his two targets for a total of 27 yards during Sunday's Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The veteran receiver struggled to overcome competition for touches in 2024, losing key opportunities to players like Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith. In fact, he wasn't even targeted in the second half of Sunday's big game. (One potential explanation is that the Eagles went run-heavy for most of the third and fourth quarters to drain the clock.) All in all, Goedert still has mid-range TE1 fantasy upside, but his floor dips significantly into the TE2 tier. As a result, we view him as a fringe top-12 fantasy tight end option heading into the 2025 season.

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott went 4-for-4 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points during Sunday's Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Although Elliott was very shaky from beyond 50 yards during the regular season, he seemed to have no trouble with distance this Sunday, converting from 29, 48, 48, and 50 yards out. Furthermore, most of his attempts went straight down the middle and had plenty of distance to spare. Those who stuck with Elliott through his 2024 woes were brave souls, and the investment paid off with Elliott's busy night on Sunday.
