NBA roundup: Pascal Siakam, Pacers sink Jaylen Brown-less Celtics

Pascal Siakam scored a go-ahead basket with 6.8 seconds left on Monday night, propelling the Indiana Pacers to a 98-96 victory over the Boston Celtics in Indianapolis.
After Siakam's clutch floater off the glass, Boston's Derrick White missed a 3-point attempt as time expired.
Siakam produced 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Jay Huff scored 20 points for the Pacers, who have won a season-high three straight games.
Payton Pritchard put up 23 points, White scored 18 and Anfernee Simons contributed 16 for the Celtics, who have dropped three of their last four games. Leading scorer Jaylen Brown (29.5 points per game) sat out due to lower back spams.
Jazz 123, Cavaliers 112
Keyonte George collected 32 points and nine assists and Lauri Markkanen had 28 points and 12 rebounds as visiting Utah rallied past Cleveland, bouncing back from a 55-point loss in its previous game.
George, who made all 12 of his free-throw attempts, poured in 16 points in the third quarter and scored nine in the fourth for the Jazz, who trailed by 10 early in the second half. Utah was manhandled 150-95 by the Charlotte Hornets at home two days earlier.
Darius Garland had 23 points and eight assists and Donovan Mitchell scored 21 points for the Cavaliers, but they combined to make just 14 of 35 shots from the field.
76ers 115, Raptors 102
Tyrese Maxey scored 33 points and visiting Philadelphia defeated Toronto to gain a split of a two-game set.
The 76ers were a different team, playing stronger defense with the return of Joel Embiid and Paul George, who did not suit up when Toronto won 116-115 in overtime on Sunday. Embiid had 27 points and eight rebounds while George scored 15 points. VJ Edgecombe added 15 points and eight assists to help Philadelphia split the four-game season series.
Immanuel Quickley scored 18 points for the Raptors and Brandon Ingram added 17. Scottie Barnes had 15 points.
Mavericks 113, Nets 105
Cooper Flagg scored 27 points as Dallas defeated visiting Brooklyn.
Naji Marshall paired 22 points with nine assists, while Klay Thompson had 18 points on 6-of-9 3-point shooting as the Mavericks snapped a two-game skid and extended Brooklyn's losing streak to four.
Michael Porter Jr. returned for the Nets after being rested in Memphis on Sunday and posted 28 points and nine rebounds. Day'Ron Sharpe logged 14 points and 12 boards off the bench.
Kings 124, Lakers 112
DeMar DeRozan registered 32 points and six assists and reserve Malik Monk produced season bests of 26 points and eight assists, leading Sacramento to a solid victory over visiting Los Angeles.
Russell Westbrook added 22 points and seven assists for the Kings, who won for the second straight night following a seven-game losing streak. Monk shot a season-best 7 of 9 from 3-point range as the Kings sank a blistering 65.4% (17 of 26) from long distance.
Luka Doncic recorded 42 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals for the Lakers, who lost their third straight game and fell for the seventh time in 11 contests.
Clippers 117, Hornets 109
Kawhi Leonard scored 19 of his 35 points in the third quarter and James Harden added 32 points and 10 assists as Los Angeles continued its hot streak with a victory over Charlotte in Inglewood, Calif.
Jordan Miller put up 14 points as the Clippers improved to 10-2 since opening the season with a 6-21 record. Harden passed Shaquille O'Neal for ninth place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
LaMelo Ball produced 25 points and rookie Kon Knueppel added 18 for the Hornets. Moussa Diabate amassed 13 points and 15 rebounds as the Hornets took their sixth loss in nine games.

Denver Nuggets guard/forward Christian Braun (ankle) has been listed as out for Tuesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Braun appears to have suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury. Prior to Sunday's matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, the team initially listed Braun as probable on the injury report, but he ultimately missed the game. Unfortunately, Braun must now sit out a second consecutive matchup. In Braun's absence, the Nuggets will lean more on Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bruce Brown.
Denver Nuggets forward/center Aaron Gordon (hamstring) is listed as probable for Tuesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. He is expected to remain in the lineup for a fourth consecutive appearance. Despite being on a minutes restriction, Gordon logged 32 minutes in Sunday's win over the Milwaukee Bucks, finishing with 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists. It's an encouraging sign that he is nearing 100 percent. However, Gordon's workload may again be limited against New Orleans, as it's the first game of a back-to-back.
Chicago Bulls guard Coby White (calf) won't play on Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets. The Bulls begin a back-to-back, and White will miss the first game to manage a right calf injury. Josh Giddey (hamstring) isn't ready to return either, meaning the trio of Tre Jones, Ayo Dosunmu, and Kevin Huerter will continue to feature more prominently in the rotation. Due to the Rockets' recent struggles, this looks like an attractive fantasy matchup for the Bulls.
Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray (ankle, illness) remains questionable on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's encounter with the New Orleans Pelicans. He's battling an illness and an ankle issue, and the team has ruled Murray out for back-to-back games after initially listing him as questionable. Jalen Pickett has seen an increased workload lately due to Murray's ongoing health issues, averaging 14.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists over the last four games. If Murray sits again on Tuesday, Pickett will be an attractive fantasy target with a favorable matchup.
Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey (hamstring) will be sidelined for a seventh consecutive game on Tuesday against the Houston Rockets. He was only a limited participant in Monday's practice. However, Giddey's return to the lineup could be near, as the team plans to re-evaluate him this week. In the meantime, Tre Jones will continue to work as Chicago's primary playmaker. The 26-year-old has averaged 10.8 points and 7.7 assists per game since taking over the starting point guard position.
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Deni Avdija (back) has been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup against the Golden State Warriors. Avdija sat out the end of Sunday's loss to the New York Knicks due to a back injury, and unfortunately, he will miss more time on Tuesday. Fortunately for Portland, Jrue Holiday returned on Sunday and will help cover for Avdija. Meanwhile, Caleb Love will continue to have a significant role in the rotation.
Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant (Achilles) is listed as doubtful for Tuesday's matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The veteran appears to be making progress in his attempt to return from an Achilles problem. Still, the doubtful tag suggests Grant will sit out his 14th consecutive game on Tuesday. Sidy Cissoko is poised to maintain a more prominent role against Golden State, especially with Deni Avdija (back) out of the lineup for this one.
Miami Heat guard/forward Norman Powell (back) is on the injury report with a questionable tag ahead of Tuesday's clash against the Phoenix Suns. He's experiencing soreness in his lower back and may be absent for a second consecutive game. Pelle Larsson filled in for Powell in the first unit on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, registering 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block. He will presumably roll with the starters again on Tuesday if Powell doesn't return.
New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jose Alvarado (oblique) is set to miss approximately two more weeks, Rod Walker of The Times-Picayune reports. The defensive specialist has already been sidelined for three games with left oblique soreness. Bryce McGowens has held a steady role in the rotation during Alvarado's absence, but he's had a couple of duds after a 20-point effort against the Atlanta Hawks last Wednesday. There are also additional minutes available for Jordan Poole and Jordan Hawksins.
Dallas Mavericks point guard Brandon Williams (illness) will be unavailable for a second consecutive game on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets. He continues to experience the side effects of an illness, and the team ruled out Williams for Monday's game after initially listing him as doubtful. Williams' absence has allowed Ryan Nembhard to gain some momentum again, and D'Angelo Russell re-entered the rotation on Saturday night against the Bulls. However, Dallas's point guards have a tough matchup on Monday, with Brooklyn allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to the position.
Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford (ankle) won't be available against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. He was a late addition to the injury report and will miss at least one game due to a right ankle sprain. Gafford's exit from the lineup leaves the Mavericks' frontcourt down to bare bones. Moussa Cisse (shoulder) and Dwight Powell are the only natural big men left and are set to share the minutes at center on Monday night.

The matchup is appealing for the duo, as Brooklyn has given up the 12th-most fantasy points to centers.
Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington (ankle) is expected to return in a week, Noah Weber of The Smoking Cuban reports. Washington will miss a fourth consecutive game on Monday night against the Brooklyn Nets. Monday's update suggests that he will sit out at least three more games. Naji Marshall, Klay Thompson, and Caleb Martin will keep logging extra minutes while Washington remains sidelined. Of the trio, Marshall has delivered the steadiest fantasy production.
Boston Celtics small forward Baylor Scheierman will make his first start of the season in Monday's contest against the Indiana Pacers. Sam Hauser will also be a fresh face in the starting five, with Jaylen Brown (back) unavailable and Hugo Gonzalez dropping to the bench. Last season, Scheierman made two starts, averaging 11.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals. It's a very small sample size, but the Creighton product can make a significant impact in a starting role.
Philadelphia 76ers guard/forward Paul George (knee) will play in Monday's matchup against the Toronto Raptors. He was a late scratch on Sunday against Toronto due to knee soreness, but luckily, George will make a quick return to the lineup. The veteran has averaged 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.6 steals through his first five outings in 2026. Kelly Oubre Jr., who logged 34 minutes as a starter on Sunday, will drop back to the bench with George's return.
Toronto Raptors guard/forward Brandon Ingram (thumb) will rejoin the lineup on Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers. He's back after missing two games with a sprained right thumb. Ingram will start the contest alongside Immanuel Quickley, Jamal Shead, Scottie Barnes, and Collin Murray-Boyles. In two early-season meetings with Philadelphia, Ingram averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists, shooting an impressive 51.9 percent from the field.
