Mavs F Anthony Davis (groin) to miss a few games

Field Level Media

Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis is likely to miss "a few games" with a minor groin strain, ESPN reported Friday.

Davis departed with the injury in the second period of Thursday's 126-116 loss at Golden State and did not return.

Davis, 32, is reportedly being targeted by several teams ahead of the NBA's Feb. 5 trade deadline.

The 10-time All-Star has played in just 16 of 32 games this season, averaging 20.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 blocks. He has also missed time with Achilles, leg and calf injuries.

On Thursday, Davis removed himself from the nationally televised contest shortly after deflecting a Stephen Curry pass with about nine minutes remaining in the first half.

Dallas trailed 40-36 at the time. Davis, who was credited with a steal on the play, finished with three points, three rebounds, two blocks and the one steal.

Davis joined the Mavericks in the blockbuster deal last February that sent superstar guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Player Notes
Pelle Larsson Fri Dec 26 5:40pm

Miami Heat guard Pelle Larsson (ankle) will play on Friday against Atlanta after missing the last five games. The 24-year-old has averaged 8.7 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.5 rebounds this season. Of course, he's played a little better in his 16 appearances as a starter. There's a chance he could find himself back in the starting lineup on Friday, considering Bam Adebayo (back) and Tyler Herro (toe) are out. With that said, he's not the safest fantasy option by any means, although the upside is there for those willing to take a risk in a contest versus one of the worst defensive clubs in the NBA. That applies regardless of Larsson's role.

Jordan Goodwin Fri Dec 26 5:40pm

Phoenix Suns guard Jordan Goodwin (jaw) is listed as available for Friday night's matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans. Goodwin has been dealing with a jaw sprain for some time now but has been wearing a mask and has been able to play in every Suns game since Halloween. Over his last 12 games he's averaged 9.4 PPG and 3.5 RPG. He has the potential for an increase in production against a Pelicans defense that hasn't been great against guards this season. He will be a more appealing option for DFS managers than traditional fantasy managers but both should keep an eye out for him in their lineups.

Nikola Jovic Fri Dec 26 5:40pm

Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic (elbow) will return from a four-game absence on Friday against Atlanta. Despite being in the league for four years, Jovic hasn't improved much from a statistical standpoint, averaging only 7.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. With Bam Adebayo (back) and Tyler Herro (toe) ruled out, there's a chance he may see more action. However, that won't make him a safe fantasy option, even with the opportunity for an expanded role.

Bam Adebayo Fri Dec 26 5:30pm

Miami Heat forward/center Bam Adebayo (back) won't play on Friday against Atlanta. He hasn't missed a game in over a month. However, Adebayo is dealing with lower back soreness, so fantasy managers are hoping to see him back out there on Saturday versus the Indiana Pacers. While Bam is sidelined, Kel'el Ware should get all of the work he can handle at the five spot. There's a good chance Jaime Jaquez Jr. finds his way into the starting lineup. With that said, any player on the Heat roster could exceed their usual fantasy projections in a meeting with a Hawks team that has struggled defensively throughout the 2025 campaign.

Gary Trent Jr. Fri Dec 26 5:30pm

Milwaukee Bucks guard Gary Trent Jr. (calf) has been ruled out for Friday night's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. This will mark the first game that Trent has missed this season. His production has been fairly marginal for Milwaukee, only averaged 9.6 PPG this season amidst a demotion to the bench. In his absence, expect Ryan Rollins to carry a heavier load for Milwaukee's bench. Cole Anthony is also likely to see more minutes, though Rollins is going to be the better option of the two to get into your starting lineups.

Jalen Suggs Fri Dec 26 5:20pm

Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs (hip) won't play on Friday against Charlotte. He was listed as doubtful heading into this one after missing the last four contests because of a left hip contusion. Unfortunately, his extended absence will continue on Friday night. With Suggs still sidelined, Tyus Jones is in line to remain in the starting lineup. Jones recently had 16 points, seven assists, and one steal in Tuesday's win over the Portland Trail Blazers. He could easily stay as productive in a matchup versus one of the worst defensive teams in the National Basketball Association.

Scottie Barnes Fri Dec 26 5:20pm

Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (illness) has been downgraded to questionable for Friday night's matchup against the Washington Wizards. Barnes has yet to miss a game this season and, with Toronto's current injury issues, the Raptors are hopeful he'll be able to overcome the illness tonight. If Barnes is unable to go then expect Immanuel Quickley and Brandon Ingram's production to increase in the starting lineup. On the bench, Jamal Shead may be someone who gets a spot start and would be a great addition for any fantasy managers looking for additional assist production.

Justin Champagnie Fri Dec 26 5:20pm

Washington Wizards guard Justin Champagnie (illness) has been downgraded to questionable for Friday night's matchup against the Toronto Raptors. Champagnie is dealing with an illness and has been a steady presence in Washington's rotation since mid-November. If available he would be in a great spot for fantasy managers looking for rebounding production as he's grabbed nine or more boards in four of his last five games. If he's out, expect Marvin Bagley III to be leaned on more with Corey Kispert already ruled out. Bagley has put up 13 or more points in each of the last five games and could be a sneaky addition for DFS players.

Mason Plumlee Fri Dec 26 5:10pm

Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (groin) won't play on Friday against Orlando. With Ryan Kalkbrenner (elbow) sidelined, Plumlee got the start in Monday's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately, he suffered a groin strain during the contest and will now miss another game. With Plumlee and Kalkbrenner off the court, Moussa Diabate is expected to remain in the starting lineup. Diabate is coming off a huge showing, amassing 12 points and 18 rebounds in the win over the Washington Wizards on Thursday, giving him plenty of upside for fantasy managers in all formats.

Tristan da Silva Fri Dec 26 5:10pm

Orlando Magic forward Tristan da Silva (shoulder) will return to the lineup on Friday night and is officially active against the Charlotte Hornets. da Silva has missed the last four games dealing with a right shoulder contusion. The 26-year-old was recently moved to the bench with Paolo Banchero's return and his production was spotty in those games (3.5 PPG and 4.5 RPG). With a return from injury he will be a risky play for both fantasy managers and DFS players alike.

Jordan Walsh Fri Dec 26 5:00pm

Boston Celtics forward Jordan Walsh (illness) will be available for Friday night's game against the Pacers. Walsh missed Monday's game against Indiana with the same illness but will be available to play in the rematch. The 21-year-old hasn't provided much fantasy value since being inserted into the starting lineup in early November but could help those in need of rebounds as he's averaged 5.7 RPG as a starter. Category league managers may find the best value out of Walsh compared to traditional fantasy managers or DFS players.

Goga Bitadze Fri Dec 26 5:00pm

Orlando Magic center Goga Bitadze (knee) has been downgraded to out for Friday night's matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. Bitadze will miss his second straight game as he deals with a left knee sprain. In his absence, expect Jonathan Isaac and Noah Penda to get extended minutes off the bench. Of the two, Penda may be the more appealing option for fantasy managers and DFS players alike as the 20-year-old has averaged 6.8 RPG over the last five games. His value isn't high, but he could provide sneaky value on the interior with the Hornets having their own injury issues at center.

Jordan Poole Fri Dec 26 1:30pm

New Orleans Pelicans guard Jordan Poole (ankle) could miss another game Friday night when his team hosts the Phoenix Suns. Poole also missed Tuesday's blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers with the ankle issue. Following an extended absence in November and early December, Poole is now a bench player in the Pelicans' rotation. He's still getting plenty of shots up (double digits in every game this season) with mixed efficiency. He averaged 16.6 points and 3.2 assists in about 27 minutes in his last five games off the bench.

Anthony Davis Fri Dec 26 1:30pm

Dallas Mavericks forward/center Anthony Davis (groin) is expected to miss a few games with a groin strain, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Davis hurt himself in the first half of the Christmas Day loss to the Golden State Warriors and did not return. Davis has played in just 16 games so far this year and has not played in six consecutive games since joining the Mavericks last season. With Dereck Lively II (foot) out for the season, Daniel Gafford will soak up plenty of minutes at the center position until Davis is ready to return.

Vince Williams Jr. Fri Dec 26 1:10pm

Memphis Grizzlies guard Vince Williams Jr. (knee) will miss his fourth consecutive game when his team hosts the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. The 25-year-old is dealing with left patellar tendinitis, and a timeline for his return remains unclear. Williams recently moved back to a bench role before his injury. He'll have plenty of company on the sidelines, as he is one of six Grizzlies ruled out Friday. Cam Spencer, Jaylen Wells, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will see more playing time, especially if Ja Morant (questionable, ankle) and Cedric Coward (questionable, ankle) are inactive.

Gary Trent Jr. Fri Dec 26 1:00pm

Milwaukee Bucks guard Gary Trent Jr. (calf) is questionable to play Friday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, according to the team's official injury report. The 26-year-old quickly left Tuesday's win over the Indiana Pacers with a left calf contusion. Trent has fallen out of Milwaukee's starting lineup recently, with Kevin Porter Jr., AJ Green, and Ryan Rollins handling the majority of the backcourt minutes. Trent only played 17 minutes in the game before his calf injury. If he's inactive tonight, Gary Harris could see an increase in playing time.

Quentin Grimes Fri Dec 26 12:50pm

Philadelphia 76ers guard Quentin Grimes (illness) is questionable for Friday night's matchup with the Chicago Bulls. Grimes, alongside Dominick Barlow and VJ Edgecombe, were all sick and missed Tuesday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Grimes could return soon, though, as he was present for the team's shootaround Friday morning. Grimes has shifted in and out of the starting lineup recently, and his playing time is largely predicated on the health of Philadelphia's other guards. Grimes, however, has not shot the ball well recently (27.9% over his last five games), despite increased opportunities.

Dominick Barlow Fri Dec 26 12:40pm

Philadelphia 76ers forward Dominick Barlow (illness) is questionable for Friday's game against the Bulls. The 76ers have a bug circulating the locker room. Barlow, VJ Edgecombe, and Quentin Grimes are all questionable with illnesses after missing Tuesday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets. However, the trio was present at Friday's shootaround, indicating that their returns could be imminent. Barlow has been a surprise starter in Philadelphia's rotation this season, averaging career highs in points (9.1), rebounds (5.6), and assists (1.8) in 26 minutes per game.

Corey Kispert Fri Dec 26 12:30pm

Washington Wizards forward Corey Kispert (hamstring) has landed back on the injury report and is listed as out for Friday night's game against the Toronto Raptors. Kispert had missed 10 games with a thumb injury but was pulled on Tuesday after just 13 minutes of action on the floor with hamstring tightness. The 26-year-old should be considered day-to-day until we have further clarity on his hamstring. In his absence, expect Justin Champagnie to get more minutes off the bench at forward. Champagnie has grabbed nine or more rebounds in four of his last five games, providing value for those needing rebound production.

RJ Barrett Fri Dec 26 12:20pm

Toronto Raptors guard RJ Barrett (knee) will miss a 15th straight game on Friday night against the Washington Wizards. Barrett has been dealing with a right knee sprain that has coincided with a major decline in the Raptors' early season success. With Barrett out, expect Ochai Agbaji to continue to get minutes in the starting lineup. Agbaji has not provided much fantasy value in Barrett's absence and fantasy managers should look at other options regardless of the appealing matchup against the Wizards.
