D'Angelo Russell sank the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds remaining as the Brooklyn Nets snapped an 11-game home losing streak with an unlikely 99-97 victory over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night in New York.
The Nets trailed by four with 9.5 seconds left after Houston's Dillon Brooks split a pair at the line. Following a clean inbounds pass by Tosan Evbuomwan, Keon Johnson sank a 3-pointer over Jae'Sean Tate with 8.1 seconds left.
After Evbuomwan stole Amen Thompson's inbounds pass for Brooks, he got the ball near the foul line and tapped it to Russell. Russell spotted up and his open trey from the left side of the key cleanly went in. Brooklyn's Jalen Green missed a desperation 32-foot 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
Johnson scored 22 points for Brooklyn, and Evbuomwan and Nic Claxton added 14 apiece. Alperen Sengun returned from missing the previous three games with a calf injury and collected 24 and a season-high 20 rebounds, but the Rockets dropped their season-high fourth straight.
Lakers 122, Clippers 97
LeBron James scored 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out nine assists as Los Angeles beat the host Clippers in Inglewood, Calif.
Playing with Luka Doncic (calf) on the bench after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks over the weekend, the Lakers got 20 points apiece from Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves.
Norman Powell scored 20 points and Derrick Jones Jr. added 17 for the Clippers, who gave up at least 122 points for the eighth time this season.
76ers 118, Mavericks 116
Joel Embiid recorded a triple-double in his return to the court and Tyrese Maxey had a double-double as Philadelphia nipped visiting Dallas.
Embiid finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in 36 minutes. Maxey contributed 33 points and 13 assists, while Guerschon Yabusele pitched in with 19 points for Philadelphia, which avoided a third straight defeat.
Kyrie Irving scored 34 points for Dallas, which was annihilated by Cleveland 144-101 in its first game after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers over the weekend. Anthony Davis, the centerpiece of the Doncic deal, continued to sit with an abdominal injury. Max Christie made his Dallas debut and went 4-of-4 from 3-point range en route to 15 points.
Trail Blazers 112, Pacers 89
Anfernee Simons recorded 22 points and seven assists and Jerami Grant added 20 points as Portland continued its home domination of Indiana.
Scoot Henderson amassed 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Shaedon Sharpe produced 17 points and three steals as the Trail Blazers won their fifth consecutive game and prevailed for the ninth time in the past 10. Toumani Camara added 13 points for Portland, which never trailed and won for the 15th time in its past 16 home contests against Indiana.
Andrew Nembhard scored 17 points and Pascal Siakam added 16 for the Pacers, who had a four-game winning streak halted and lost for just the third time in the past 15 games. T.J. McConnell put up 14 points and Bennedict Mathurin added 12 points and seven rebounds as Indiana had a six-game road winning streak stopped, one shy of the franchise record set at the outset of the 2003-04 season.
Bulls 133, Heat 124
Rookie Matas Buzelis scored a career-best 24 points on 10-for-10 shooting and Josh Giddey added 24 points to lift host Chicago to a win against Miami.
Ayo Dosunmu tallied 21 points and nine assists and Coby White had 22 points for Chicago, which outscored Miami 39-21 in the fourth quarter.
Tyler Herro had 23 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for the Heat, while Bam Adebayo contributed 23 points and eight boards. Kel'el Ware notched a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Celtics 112, Cavaliers 105
Derrick White scored 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter to help visiting Boston extend its winning streak to four games with a victory over Cleveland.
Jayson Tatum scored a team-high 22 points and had seven assists for Boston. Kristaps Porzingis had 19 points and seven rebounds. The Celtics also received a 16-point performance from Jaylen Brown.
Donovan Mitchell had 31 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the loss, which dropped Cleveland's home record to 24-4. Darius Garland added 25 points for the Cavaliers, who received 17 points and 18 rebounds from Jarrett Allen.
Knicks 121, Raptors 115
Karl-Anthony Towns paired 27 points with 20 rebounds as visiting New York held off a second-half rally to defeat Toronto.
Jalen Brunson scored 28 points to lead New York, which led by 23 during the third quarter before letting Toronto close within one late in the fourth. However, the Knicks never gave up the lead and completed a sweep of the four-game season series.
Scottie Barnes scored 23 points for Toronto, which has lost two of three. Jamal Shead produced 16 points and nine assists.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard (groin) is questionable for Wednesday's game in Charlotte. The former Trail Blazer wasn't available for Monday's loss to OKC because of left groin soreness. But the Bucks were extremely shorthanded, with Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee), Khris Middleton (ankles), Bobby Portis (personal) and Brook Lopez (back) also sidelined for that one. Luckily, Middleton, Portis, and Lopez are probable for Wednesday night, so they should be more involved offensively if Antetokounmpo and Lillard aren't on the floor versus the Hornets. Fantasy managers may also see expanded production from Gary Trent Jr. and Taurean Prince.
Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's matchup with the Hornets. The Greek Freak has dealt with right patella tendinopathy for most of the season. Despite that, he's averaged a career-high 31.8 points with 12.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 blocks. Antetokounmpo was sidelined for Monday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Fortunately, the team could have Khris Middleton (ankles), Brook Lopez (back), and Bobby Portis (personal) back on the floor, which will certainly help. If Damian Lillard (groin), who is also questionable, and Antetokounmpo don't suit up, Middleton, Lopez, and Portis should be more involved on the offensive end. The same can be said about Gary Trent Jr.
San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox is set to make his team debut against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. Fox was acquired by the Spurs in part of a three-team trade on Monday. The addition of Fox almost certainly means that Chris Paul will move to the bench. It seems likely that the Spurs would want to pair rookie Stephon Castle with Fox in the backcourt. Fox was one of the best point guards in the league while playing in Sacramento. That should continue to be the case in San Antonio, so fantasy managers better make sure to get Fox active in their lineups.
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green (calf) is listed as probable ahead of Wednesday's game against the Utah Jazz. Green returned to the court on Monday after missing seven games in a row due to a calf injury. The veteran big man didn't seemed to be limited as he finished with four points, seven rebounds, and five assists in 28 minutes of action. The fact Green is listed as probable means he should play, barring any setbacks ahead of tip-off. At this point, fantasy managers know exactly what they're going to get from Green in terms of fantasy production.
Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III will suit up for Tuesday's game, according to head coach Chauncey Billups. Williams was healthy for Monday's game, but didn't play which marked his fourth absence in a row. Now, Williams is expected to take over Donovan Clingan's role as the backup center to Deandre Ayton. That doesn't mean much considering Clingan hasn't played more than 11 minutes in four straight games. There really is no incentive for fantasy managers to roster Williams right now. He's struggling to find playing time and Clingan is likely to see an increased role down the stretch of the season. The best path for Williams to find more playing time would be getting traded ahead of Thursday's deadline.
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) is listed as questionable ahead of Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Markkanen seemed fine during Monday's game against the Indiana Pacers. The 27-year-old has been dealing with a lingering back issue for some time, but he has played over 30 minutes per game in each of the last three contests. The Jazz aren't exactly playing for anything this season, so opting to rest Markkanen for younger players isn't shocking. Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski should see more action in the rotation if Markkanen is out. Both players are possible low-end streaming options if Markkanen heads to the bench.
Utah Jazz guard Collin Sexton (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Wednesday's game and won't be on the court for at least a week. Sexton suffered a left ankle sprain during Monday's contest. The team has decided to let him rest and re-evaluate Sexton in a week. The Jazz aren't exactly playing for anything right now, so it wouldn't be shocking to see Sexton sit out through the All-Star break. In the meantime, Jordan Clarkson and Keyonte George should see bigger roles in the rotation. Both have been solid fantasy options lately. Clarkson is still working his way back from injury, so George might be the safer option at the moment. However, both players should be viable options while Sexton is sidelined.
Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine is expected to make his team debut against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. LaVine was unavailable for Monday's game after being traded in three-team deal from the Chicago Bulls. Obviously, LaVine wasn't going to make the trip to Minnesota on such short notice, but he will be available for Wednesday's contest. LaVine missed the last three games before the trade due to the birth of his child. There is a chance that LaVine is under a minutes limit during his team debut. Despite that, fantasy managers in season-long formats can feel comfortable getting LaVine in their lineups ahead of this game.
New York Knicks forward Josh Hart (knee) will play on Tuesday against the Raptors. The veteran continues to appear on the injury report because of right knee soreness. However, he's only missed one game this season, and that won't change on Tuesday night. Hart has had a productive 2024-25 campaign, averaging 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.6 steals, so fantasy managers need to include him in their fantasy lineups for the favorable matchup on tap.
Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons (lower back, injury management) won't play on Tuesday against the Rockets. The Nets are playing back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday, so Simmons will take the night off before likely returning against Washington. Without him, D'Angelo Russell should be in line for more minutes, with Keon Johnson also getting more involved at the one.
New York Knicks forward Mikal Bridges (ankle) will play on Tuesday against the Raptors. He tweaked his ankle during Monday's 124-118 win over the Houston Rockets. But the 28-year-old still finished with 22 points, two blocks, and one steal in 39 minutes. It would take a miracle for Bridges to miss a game, so fantasy managers were planning to see him out there. With Josh Hart (knee) and Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) available, Bridges ceiling isn't as high. Still, he's a must-start in any fantasy format for the favorable matchup on the horizon.
Houston Rockets guard Aaron Holiday will join the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets. He will make his first start of the campaign following an impressive bench showing in Monday's loss to the New York Knicks. While most of his teammates struggled to hit shots, Holiday went for a season-high 15 points in 17 minutes with 6-for-10 shooting. Jae'Sean Tate and Tari Eason (lower leg) will drop out of the first unit on Tuesday, with the latter ruled out for the game.
New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) will play on Tuesday against Toronto. KAT had 22 points, nine rebounds, one steal, and one block in the win over the Houston Rockets on Monday night. He popped up on the injury report due to a sore knee. But it won't be enough to keep him off the floor for the sixth time during the 2024-25 campaign. With Toronto allowing 116.3 points per contest this season, Towns could be in for a big night.
Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (ankle) is considered doubtful for Wednesday's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant may miss a return to his old stomping ground due to a left ankle sprain. The Suns are also reportedly listening to offers for Durant, so he might have played his final game with the team. Bradley Beal should get a larger offensive role if Durant is out on Wednesday night, while Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale may receive more playing time.
Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason (lower leg) will be inactive against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. The 23-year-old will sit out the second leg of a back-to-back after posting 12 points, six rebounds, and three blocks across 34 minutes in a starting role on Monday against the New York Knicks. Jae'Sean Tate and Cam Whitmore should feature more in the rotation with Eason out. Tate also started on Monday but logged only 22 minutes, finishing with eight points, six assists, and one steal. Whitmore went for 18 points in 23 minutes off the bench and picked up five rebounds with a pair of steals and one block.
Toronto Raptors guard/forward Bruce Brown (face) will play against the New York Knicks on Tuesday. After being hit in the face during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Bruce did not practice on Monday and entered Tuesday with a questionable designation. However, he has been cleared for action. With RJ Barrett (concussion) unavailable, Brown could see a few extra shifts in the rotation. The veteran is averaging 8.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.0 steals in 19.9 minutes this season.
According to Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Philadelphia 76ers centerAndre Drummond (toe) has been downgraded to unavailable after carrying a questionable for Tuesday's matchup with the Dallas Mavericks. The left toe issue has given the veteran a lot of problems over the last month. With so many injuries, the Sixers need him back on the floor. His next chance to return comes on Wednesday against the Heat. Joel Embiid(knee) is available for Tuesday's game, and with Drummond out of action andGuerschon Yabuselestarting for the injuredPaul George(finger),Adem Bona will see an expanded role at center coming off the bench this evening.
Toronto Raptors forward/center Chris Boucher (illness) will not be in the lineup on Tuesday against the New York Knicks. TSN's Josh Lewenberg has reported that Boucher is currently away from the team as he is battling an illness. Kelly Olynyk, Orlando Robinson, and Ochai Agbaji may receive an uptick in minutes with Boucher unavailable. RJ Barrett's (concussion) absence also opens up minutes for Toronto's reserves on Tuesday. Considering Boucher isn't with the team, it's likely he also won't be in the lineup on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Dallas Mavericks power forward P.J. Washington (personal) will not be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers. After missing Sunday's blowout loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a knee issue, Washington was initially expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday. However, he will end up sitting out a second straight game, with personal reasons cited for his absence. Anthony Davis (abdomen) isn't ready for his Mavericks debut and Dereck Lively II (ankle) remains on the shelf, meaning Dallas will be shorthanded in the frontcourt Tuesday night. Olivier-Maxence Prosper logged 31 minutes on Sunday and looks set for a heavy workload again.
Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphiareports that Philadelphia 76ers guard/forwardEric Gordon(knee) is unavailable for Tuesday's matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. The veteran sharpshooter will be out for a second consecutive game due to knee soreness. With the 36-year-old out of action, Ricky Council IV will likely take on extra minutes. OnSunday against the Boston Celtics, Council finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and two steals. He will be a viable option for fantasy managers again on Tuesday, especially with Gordon out.
